The "shock and awe" is the realization by the American people that our news media (except FOX) is nothing but a bunch of sniveling, snide anti-American leftists who employ vile, rude reporters who are generally unsubstantial and mean-spirited people.

That is the shock and awe.

I posted yesterday that a friend who supports Bush but does not follow news and politics as closely as we freepers, called me from her job yesterday as the radio station they listen to at work carries CNN news reports. She actually got the impression we were losing! This before the Jessica rescue and such.

Many here were kind enough to point me to some good news sources to send to her. I hate to inundate someone with articles unrequested, but she said to please send them on. She was stunned to learn of the deception she had heard presented as "news".

Another to have her eyes opened is my sister who is the same type. Concerned citizen and Bush supporter, who really only watches evening news and scans the paper. She has turned to me for some info and is learning which sources are reliable. Not based on my say-so. By the actual sources I've pointed her to, themselves, and the ability to cross-check against daily events, it is clear who is telling the truth and who is deliberately underplaying and misreporting the story here.

Problem is, most people's memories are about 3 weeks at best. The real question is whether people will remember this bias in the coming weeks and months, particularly in November 2004.

I'm having a very enjoyable discussion this morning with my niece and nephew -- all about the war and Bush.

I'm amazed at how attentive they've been. I've obviously had a good impact on them. :-)
