Question for you, AF..Iraq oil production can reatart in a few months..the country will still be under US militry control, with a free-Iraqi advisory council...so, does the "new" Iraq stay in OPEC..and what price does it get for the oil?....the answer to those questions will explain a lot of what happens later...

Saddam is dead
I just watched the second "advertised" appearance by Saddam, and it's old tape, shown the other day.
He's dead.

Clintoon will continue vying with Carter for worst ex pres.IMHO, Clinton took the prize from Carter when he allowed his buddies to sell MIRV targeting technology to Red China. (Motorola, Boeing, and Loral)
Carter's sweaters hardly stand up to treason.

Thank you Capitalism2003, American Ex, Null & Void and others who helped out on these threads for the last 14 days. I hate replying to the first page of a 10 page thread, but in this case I'll make an exception.
Spectr17, you're absolutely right. These FReepers deserve acknowledgement, along with so many others (Howlin, Brad's Gramma, ewing, to mention a few) for keeping these threads up and running.
And of course, thanks to Jim and John Robinson, without whom none of this would be possible.
Back to lurking mode.

Point is, we still come first. We can sell whatever oil we want or acquire any other Iraqi assets we want to pay for the war and for reconstruction. This is above and beyond the Oil for Food program, which the Administration purports to support.
As I write this, we essentially own the oil Iraqi fields, careful and prudent rhetoric from the Administration notwithstanding.

So before the briefing Linda Vester announced that the two F14 pilots had been rescued and to expect it addressed at the Pentagon briefing. It was not and nothing mentioned since.
I hope she was not incorrect.
they just replayed that footage of Saddam "today". These tapes get more laughable with each release and the lie that comes with it.

I was channel surfing last night when the rescue report first broke....Fox held the story for 20 minutes, waiting for the briefing, while MSNBC and CNN ran with it...they obviously broke the the CentCom request to embargo the story....Fox obviously has a better rapport with the HQ, and/or maybe they were trying to ransome Geraldo...

Bad math ... that's $2000 per citizen per year from oil alone, $6000-10,000 per family, that's not counting all the usual multiplier stuff. Regardless, it's going to be a good foundation to build an economy and society around. They've got to quit blowing us up regardless.

Col. Hunt say over this weekWell, that would put many of these reporters that attend briefings in a big old sulk, wouldn't it?
