Title: Iraqi Military Spokesman on 'Crushing, Devastating' Attacks

Document Date: 28 Mar 2003
Citysource: Baghdad Iraqi Satellite Channel Television
Language: Arabic
Subslug: Announcer-read report over video

[FBIS Translated Text] A military spokesman has stated the following:

In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate. All the claims of the Zionists and the Zionized rulers of America and Britain have collapsed. They claimed that their war will be easy and surprising. Not only the Iraqis [und-minute break in reception] witness. The tyrant invaders themselves admit that their war is not as easy as they expected and that it will not be surprising. In fact, its results will be bitter to them and full of dangers. The tough days have not come yet. All this has happened and is happening, and will continue to happen with your valiant jihad, O glorious men and women. It is an inevitable result of the heroic fighting of your heroic Armed Forces; the fighters of your great and capable army; the brave men of the difficult missions, the Republican Guard forces; the young fedayeen, Saddam's Fedayeen; the heroes of Al-Quds Army; the tribes who are faithful to the land; and the masses of the mujahid people, headed by the strugglers of the great Ba'th Party.

Our enemies have admitted failure, and they will be forced to admit defeat as a result of the lofty Iraqis' jihad under the banner of their beloved leader, Saddam Husayn, may God watch over him.

O lofty Iraqis, O Arab nation, O honest people in the whole world. The US officials and their lackeys, the British officials, as well as their news media, have always claimed that they have desecrated the land of Al-Najaf and that they are only a few kilometers away from Baghdad. However, ask them, ask small Bush and mean Blair, where are their forces now? Let us answer the question with this good news, which will be followed by other good news. Our heroic Armed Forces and zealous people have carried out a series of crushing, devastating attacks on the remnants of the enemy, which infiltrated the areas of Al-Kifl, the Karbala-Al-Najaf road, and the borders of the governorate. They have shaken the hearts of the enemies, torn bodies, and burned steel. The enemy fled, defeated and lost in the desert. How disappointed you are O small Bush, and you are so failing and very stupid, O Blair. Wait for more defeats. Wait for your final defeat.

Praise be to God, the granter of victory. Glory and pride to the heroes of our Republican Guard, Al-Quds Army, Saddam's Fedayeen, and the sons of our tribes and the Ba'th Party strugglers.

God is Great, God is Great, God is Great. Praise be to God.

Title: Military spokesman Details Military Activities, 'Enemy' Losses 30 Mar

Document Date: 30 Mar 2003
Citysource: Baghdad Iraqi Satellite Channel Television
Language: Arabic
Subslug: Communique No. 11, issued by the Iraqi Armed Forces General Command, on 30 March -- read by announcer

[FBIS Translated Text] Did they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering of veil of the wrath of God, or of the coming against them of the final Hour all of a sudden while they perceive not? [Koranic verse]

The great people of Iraq have become a model in steadfastness and defiance against arrogance, showing the entire world how people can defy colonialism. All of humanity now respects and supports the Iraqi people. This has been expressed by millions of people, who are marching in cities across the world. Our heroic Armed Forces are now cited as an example in true soldiership, proficient planning, great fighting performance, and high level of sacrifice and self-denial. All these facts have taken the enemy by surprise and completely done away with the idea of an easy and quick war, on which the enemy had relied. They also shattered the illusion of depending on those traitors fooling around in the cities of the states of aggression. Thus, disagreement began to creep into the ranks of the stunned US and British officials, with each party blaming the other for the failure. They all have become an object of ridicule by political and military thinkers. Our enemies are now confused in the fields of politics as much as they are confused in the battlefield. Meanwhile, the events and developments of the war are making the Iraqis and their Armed Forces tougher and more self-confident. These developments are showing the Iraqis' fair intentions, making them more reassured about the future, and consolidating their pride in the greatness and wisdom of their leadership. This leadership is represented by the knight of the nation and symbol of it pride, Saddam Husayn, may God watch over him.

It is only a matter of days of patience and fighting before the decisive hour comes in favor of Iraq, the Arab nation, and the forces of liberation in the entire world, with the help of God.

Following is a roundup of the activities of our valiant armed forces and the armed masses of the people for yesterday evening and today.

1. A group from the Amphibious Special Forces Regiment of our heroic Naval Forces ambushed the enemy concentrations. With the zeal of men, they were able to destroy two enemy armored vehicles, with their personnel inside. Another group launched a raid on the enemy's scattered remnants and was able to destroy two more armored vehicles. Glory and honor to you, O valiant men of our Naval Forces.

2. The forces of the Republican Guard, the men of the difficult tasks and the faithful mujahidin, carried out the following missions:

a. A combat unit from the Republican Guard's Special Forces carried out a night raid on a concentration of enemy armored vehicles in Dhi Qar governorate. They were able to torch an enemy tank, with its personnel inside.

b. Heroes of the People's Guard carried out destructive missile attacks against the enemy scattered remnants on the edges of Al-Najaf Governorate, inflicting significant losses in personnel, weapons, and equipment.

c. The artillery of the valiant men of the Republican Guard pounded, with artillery shells and tube bombs, the enemy concentrations on the edges of Al-Najaf Governorate, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy armored units and personnel.

Honor and glory to you, O valiant men of the faithful Republican Guard.

3. A force from the fighters of the 18th Division, Tariq Bin-Ziyad Forces, alongside fighters of our great party, launched a raid on the scattered remnants of the enemy in Basra Governorate. They were able to destroy one tank and one armored personnel carrier and kill a number of enemy personnel.

4. The young men of sacrifice from Saddam Fedayeen carried out the following activities:

a. They destroyed a combat armored vehicle and a command vehicle in the Central Euphrates Sector.

b. They destroyed an armored personnel carrier in Basra Governorate.

c. They destroyed another armored personnel carrier in Basra Governorate.

Forge ahead, O mujahidin, who have set a splendid example to the young men of the nation.

5. With the grace and help of God, five drones were shot down, as follows:

a. A drone was shot down by the men of the difficult tasks, the men of the Republican Guard.

b. A drone was shot down by Saddam Fedayeen.

c. A drone was shot down by the heroes of the 6th Armored Division, the valiant men of Sa'd Forces.

d. A drone was shot down by the 70th Armored Brigade, the Desert Wolves.

e. A drone was shot down by the men of the III Army Corps.

6. Our valiant Missile Force dealt a destructive blow to Ali al-Salim Base -- the den of aggression and evil, the base for supplying the aggression and the launch pad for its aircraft to attack the people of Iraq -- and inflicted heavy damage on the base. Our Missile Force also dealt repeated strikes with 29 Tariq missiles and two Ababil missiles to the enemy concentrations and its supply centers.

God blesses you, O valiant men of our Missile Force.

7. A force from our fighters in Al-Anbar Governorate attacked enemy scattered remnants in the western desert. They managed to destroy two enemy armored vehicles and kill the personnel inside.

Thus, the enemy losses for last night and today are as follows:

Two tanks were destroyed. Nine personnel carries were destroyed. Five drones were shot down. One command vehicle was destroyed.

God is great. God is great. God is great. Thanks to God Almighty, who supports the faithful and patient mujahidin.

Title: Saddam Husayn Issues Orders Granting Iraqi 'Martyrdom-seeker' Military Medals

Document Date: 30 Mar 2003
Citysource: Baghdad Iraqi Satellite Channel Television
Language: Arabic
Subslug:

[FBIS Translated Text] An authorized spokesman has made the following statement:

In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate.

"And say: The truth has now arrived, and falsehood perished. For falsehood is by nature bound to perish." [Koranic verse]

O great nation, O glorious men of our Armed Forces, O Iraqi fedayeen, O Arabs:

This is the good news for which the skies will say that God is great and there is no god but God. This is the help of divine belief that God has bestowed upon the great people of Iraq and our nation.

A dear and glorious martyr has become the first person to mark, in his own way, his place on the land of Al-Rafidayn, the land of Al-Najaf, the land of our grandfather Ali, may God bless him.

It is Officer Ali Ja'far Musa Hammadi al-Nu'mani, one of the heroes of our valiant Armed Forces. His pure soul sought to teach the aggressors a lesson in the same manner as his Palestinian martyrdom-seeking brothers, in the spirit of a martyrdom-seeker, determined to achieve results while sacrificing the soul for the country and for values.

After kissing the holy Koran and the banner of God is great, this great fedayeen placed himself in a booby-trapped car and headed to a place where enemy tanks and armored vehicles were gathered at the outskirts of the city of Al-Najaf. He turned his pure body, along with his car and the explosives it carried, into a destructive rocket. He exploded himself and his car at 1015 [0715 GMT] on 29 March 2003, killing 11 villains from the United States and wounding a large number of others. He also destroyed two armored personnel carriers and damaged two tanks. His pure gratified soul rose to the heavens.

Long live the spirit of jihad and sacrifice. Long live the spirit of fighting and resistance. Glory to our martyr Ali for he was worthy of the name he carried. Glory to his parents for they have brought him up well to become a pious son of the nation and of values.

God have mercy on our pious martyrs and heal our wounded.

Mujahid leader President Saddam Husayn, may God protect him, has decided the following:

First, to grant the hero martyr Officer Ali Ja'far Musa Hammadi al-Nu'mani the Rafidayn medal of the first order and of the military class.

Second, to grant him the Umm al-Ma'arik [Mother of Battles] medal of the first order and the military class.

It is the blessed beginning, and the enemy will face what they did not expect in terms of steadfastness, bravery, and martyrdom-seeking spirit. They will be defeated.

God is great and ignominy to the lowly ones.

THank you Peter Arnett. See what this creep has spawned? He really ought to be prosecuted for aiding and abetting the enemy.

LOL - nothing quite that silly. Actually, if I had to choose between "American Idol" and Iraqi government broadcasts....I'd have to really sit down and think about it ;)

I actually think that the Ikrakis putting this out is great. What do think Abdul will have going through his mind when an M-1 tank cruises by his hovel, and he realizes that the "lost in the desert" defeated army is in Badgag?

I'll say!

And wait until the Baath regime collapse sand we find the videotapes made by Uday and Qusay of people being fed into large plastic shredding machines, feet first, or being shot or dipped in hot oil.

Like the German citizens near Buchenwald forced to come in the camps and watch the bodies being removed, we should force Pacifica Radio broadcasters for "Democracy Now!" and prof. Nick de Genaro, to sit down and see all of these tapes, and offer the US and Iraqi people a full apology.

God help me, this is almost making sense.

That's one of the signs of schizophrenia, isn't it? I may need to see a shrink.

Actually it is a direct translation of a half time pep talk by a Notre dame football coach.

You know what these speeches remind me of?...Remember the novel or the movie '1984'?....

People would be in one of the dim cafes, or at work, or in the streets, and all of a sudden, a big face appears on one of the many strategically positioned TV screens, and the announcer starts yammering about how 'our heroic forces from Eurasia conquered the vile treacherous soldiers of Oceania',....and then two days later grand announcements of huge shipments of say, rubber boats, are made...and then two days later the formerly grand soldiers of Eurasia, have turned traitor, and were crushed by the loyal people of Oceania....just a lot of nonsense statements made...history being written and rewritten as the announcer speaks....

What twaddle comes out of the mouths of Sadaams supporters...
