Wouldn't you say it might be a backlash at our ridiculous 'designer dissing' of French wines and cheese - for goodness sakes.

No I certainly wouldn't. The proposition that this spat has become about wine and cheese is absurd, I'm sorry. There is a very great game afoot. The times, they are a changin'. So fast it's hard to know where we'll be in 3 yrs much less 3 decades. History is accelerating, and that's unfortunate for France.

As far as France as smokescreen, I just don't follow what the heck u said. Sorry again. /w

As to smokescreen - it is good for the government to keep the Americans anger focused on France. It is not going to hurt the economy to not buy French products and it keeps the 'kiddies' occupied so they don't wonder why our government is doing nothing about China and the continued Mexican encroachment on our sovereignty.

China and Mexico are doing us more harm than France and her not supporting us can ever do. Besides not supporting us also - they are taking over the country. To my knowledge, France has not loaded us down with millions of her undesirables to care for and even the biggest French bashers will have to admit France poses no where near the threat to us that China does. We can only hope China doesn't start rumbling while we are engaged with this war.
.

We would not want people to ask our President why he is doing virtually nothing - less than nothing about the possibility of terrorists coming across the border. Don't give me the homeland defense stuff. All the tens of thousand of people they are going to put on the bridges and gates to protect us. That's where I would come in if I was a terrorist - march right across the bridge - of course, they probably are and will continue to do that also.

And we wouldn't want anyone to ask why we have done nothing to keep the manufacturing of necessary war materials in this country - and not export it to China and while it may be 'most favored' to PResident Bush - I fear, they do not feel the same way about us - it is just our money that is 'most favored'.

Just how far beyond wine and cheese does this go? I will admit I absolutely do not see why France is the only culprit here. It seems 99.8% of the world doesn't side with us and many of them are getting much more from us than France and many of them owe us for their freedom and survival - why France? That's why I say it is a smokescreen - tell me why it isn't a diversion and tell me what good it is going to do the US - as opposed say to sending illegals home and starting up our manufacturing if for no other reason than defense? None - it's a game - it is a feel-good bunch of silliness. It serves no purpose in the long run except to keep our minds off the real danger.

ASk youself how and when the Muslims gained so much influence and wealth in this country? ASk yourself why our President jumped in on a religious debate and sided with them? Ask youself why this country went, in a few short years, from arresting Christian children from praying outside the building before school, to allowing Muslim children out of class for their prayer times and providing a special room for them?

Those are scary questions - it is much easier to follow the crowd and bash France - that way we don't have to think about what is happeing.
