Hillary Clinton was on the board of directors of Wal-Mart, but I continue to shop there.

Gore receives 30,000 stock options as Apple director

Why doesn't he demand a recount until he gets 500,000 or so?

> Now Apple is rotten to the gore.

Three weeks ago, I doubt any of us could name an AAPL Board
member other than Steve Jobs. Now we can, and that is not
promising news for Apple.

By nominating this lightning rod (Gore), they have needlessly
polarized their already-too-small customer base.

Did they imagine that they would capture an untapped customer
base consisting of Gore supporters or other naive people who
bought Gore's self-serving imaginary image as an ubergeek?

Did they think that conservatives and libertarians were such
a small part of their existing customer base that they could
afford to drive them off?

Did they forget about Rush Limbaugh, who until the Gore deal,
was giving Apple free endorsements, and has now warned-off
some 20,000,000 listeners?

This is massively incompetent management at work, folks.
Apple is at serious risk of becoming dot.gone.

The least they could do! If is wasn't for Al inventing the internet, none of these 'Puter companies would have gotten off the ground. Ya think we buy em to play solitaire?

All the big tech companies seem liberal at the core. And why not. Until last year, the software companies were run like Pulman. High salaries and benefits, no worries. Everything was going to get steadily better forever. the end of history. The end of business cycles.

So smart of Apple. Bwhahahaha. The CNN of computer companies. Do they honestly think they are hitching their wagon to a rising star, someone who is going to pull them into player status? Goodlord, apple, look at the man. You've hitched your wagon to an Assteroid. When he's through with you, all that will be left is a big, smokin' crater.

I agree. Apple still makes a decent niche product but Gore will be the worm for them.

I fired off a letter to Apple about how disappointed I am with this decision, which seems to have no benefit for Apple at all (it won't get the left to buy Macs -- it will only alienate those on the right). I've gone from wondering when I'll be able to fit a new PowerBook into my budget to wondering if I'll be buying another Apple product in the future. Ugh. Bad move.
