I don't recall anyone standing over Geraldo, maybe walking by but not inspecting his report. Second anyone watching would probably assumed the report was being taped for later broadcast as what Geraldo did was IMO incredibly stupid.
If Geraldo had not been informed what to do and not to do he should have asked for guidelines and cleared his broadcast ahead of time. He was way out of line, but I don't think he was trying to be hurtful, just unthinking, trying to show off. Stupid thing is he not only put his unit in danger but himself....If someone had gotten hurt on the mission because of his showboating, Geraldo might have ended up being a frag victim...we are lucky nobody did get hurt and Geraldo won't have the opportunity to screw up again...mistakes in war can be fatal...he definately lacked common sense in this situation....
