golly, you didn't seem critical at all. I don't have a clue myself, that is why I asked last week. in fact I was so removed from information, I thought it was maybe a walled city.. (hmm.. wrong millenium)

This is going to be a pointless press conference. No new info will be gained.

agreed

But the story is the RESCUE.
We already knew that there were dead there, having seen the video. But we didn't know if they had any live POW's besides the ones we had seen on TV. Most assumed that Jessica was dead. The military discovered that she was still alive, where she was being held, and mounted a difficult but successful rescue.
The good news is:
1) One was alive that was thought to be likely dead.
2) That soldier was rescued.
3) The soldier is free and will live.
All unknown until a few hours ago. That is good news, and combined it is much bigger news than the confirmation that those who we had seen dead in a video and some others that were missing and likely dead were actually dead.

Maybe we should wait for a response from CENTCOM before we start calling it BS spin I'll restrain myself. But candor and truthfulness work in the favor of any administration. If we recovered one living service person and 9 deceased, and this press conference only mentioned the living one, then in my mind, there was an absence of candor. Maybe justified, and I'll shut up on the subject.

Is this John Warner the senator that was married to Liz Taylor?

I know this is a little inappropriate, but your post made me think ... "Ahh but he is only mostly dead, which is better than all dead" LOL

Ollie thwarted Congress and was doing nothing illegal. He thought on his feet and did this country proud defeating Commie thugs in Central America. Watching Ollie North in the Iran-Contra hearings was one of the first things that made me realize that liberals (which I thought I was) thought differently than me. I watched it and totally believed he was being honest, forthright and telling the truth. I couldn't understand why so many others thought he was lying.
From Jed Babbin on NRO:
"Four leaders of the Kurdish Shiite terror group Ansar al-Islam surrendered today. Among them was their link to Iraqi intelligence, himself a former Iraqi intelligence officer."

Also occurs to me, this is just another violation of the GC by Iraq. They were holding a POW without notification. Good thing we got her when we did.
And then there's this good news: Egypt has expelled a senior Iraqi diplomat. Hmmmm. Maybe Cairo's deciding it's time to jump on the winning side.
