Bush et al are appeasing no one for one simple reason: it's all public relations nonsense got up to please those who are dumb enough to believe it. And you think Sharon isn't in on this? When it comes time to stop building/expanding settlements and setting up a "Palestinian" state dollars to donuts something will blow up and it just won't happen.

I certainly hope that's the case, but it's an ill-advised bone, nevertheless. The Bush Administration should have no comment about what's going on in Israel, other than to condemn the "palestinians'" homicide bombings.

The idea of a further partition of Israel deseves zero legitimacy.
