The Bush administration are simply throwing a bone to the Arabs and Blair's supporters in Britain.
I certainly hope that's the case, but it's an ill-advised bone, nevertheless. The Bush Administration should have no comment about what's going on in Israel, other than to condemn the "palestinians'" homicide bombings.
The idea of a further partition of Israel deseves zero legitimacy.

Therw will be no peace until one side or the other wins a total war.
You can't force peace on two peoples who have been at war for over three thousand years.

So, what's the problem here? No problem at all. Those prerequisites will never come into play, and at the end of this year there will be no more "palestinians". Good riddance to bad rubbish ;).
You didn't really think that the administration was going to reward a terrorist structure that is sending suicide bombers to Iraq to kill Americans and is calling on Saddam Hussein to use WMD's, did you?

You're absolutely welcome. Gee, this thread is suddenly quiet.

No, but if the unthinkable happens (that Arabs instantly change their entire belief structure), there will be a Palestinian state. Otherwise, I highly doubt it.

Sadly, our government expects Israel to do all the sacrificing. Every Administration wants to go down as "attaining peace" in the Mid east.

If the Jordanians wanted a Palestinian state, they would hav e created one when they controled the West Bank prior to '67. They didn't. Arabs don't want a Palestinian state, they want all of Palestine, and they won't settle for less. For us suckers, they might sign a phony treaty to get it.

Like I said, I hope you are right. He seems to be a man of his word, but I don't hold anyone out to be perfect. I have seen many people drop the ball at crucial moments. I definitely pray for him, that he will have the wisdom and strength to do what is right.

Maybe because the land Israel took through war included a population of Arabs who still live there? Ok... so land won/occupied after being attacked by said land -- must be returned to the people? Says a lot that Israel allowed the Arabs to stay, but the arabs themselves don't want to allow the Israelis to stay.
