The CIA and the Military need to learn, the moslem's use surrender talks as a trick to buy time and gain information. They never had any intention of surrendering.

What was all that, then, back in 1991?

We had to offer - it is the just and noble thing. It is what separates us from the Iraqi government's allies who attack without warning and attack civilian targets.

Jeepers- is there any news source that you don't believe is biased?

It does seem blindingly obvious that our intelligence people have screwed up again (9/11 being the last major screw up). Our leaders all thought the Iraqi's would welcome us with open arms into their country bringing a quick end to the terrible Saddam regime- hell even the Vice-Pres was telling us the weekend before the war that the Iraqi's would welcome us into their country.

Heads should roll in the intelligence community.

You know, we have another offer coming to them soon that they can not refuse; and a .223 at 20 ft will end the negotiations quickly.

You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to minw.

I don't care that you don't care. That is fine. That is your privilege.

I'll just simply make a point to skip anything further posted by you. Easy enough.

BTW, I agree re: Heads rolling in the CIA. It needs to be cleaned out from top to bottom of all the leftover Clintonistas who would like nothing better than to let the Iraqi's know everything we have planned, are planning, will plan in order to ensure our defeat and in order to ensure the furtherance of the power crazed goals of their "Dear Leader" Hillary Clinton!

Our President is a very peaceful man who strongly hoped that the full force of our militlary would not be needed to dislodge the terrorist in Baghdad. Sadly, it will require that full force. Further, I am sure while some did underestimate the power of the brutality of the Iraqi "enforcers" against the innocent civilians of Iraq preventing them from joining us in the "revolt" against their brutal masters - many others did not.

When the people of Iraq are freed from their enforcers, they ARE joining us, they ARE applauding us, they ARE ready for their oppressors to be killed and want to help in that way.

What is happening is that the brutalities of the Saddam regime is being shown to be even MORE HEINOUS than the worst stories coming out of that country revealed, CONFIRMING THE RIGHT in this effort to dislodge the terrorist regime from power there.

Perhaps you and Smogger would like to state clearly whether or not you support this War and/or this President.

I do find it rather sick when people question your patriotism just because you merely question some of the errors/mistakes made by your government. "Freedom’sWorthIt" that’s what they did in Soviet Russia- if you questioned your leadership you were shouted down (and much worse). I’m a conservative and string Christian. I voted for Bush and support our soldiers fully. George W is a great man- and I am saddened that his father didn’t his backbone and determination. If he had he would have taken out Saddam in Gulf War 1 – However I don’t have blind and naive allegiance to George W- and that is the way it should be in a democracy (Watergate anyone?). Rumsfeld has screwed up in his micromanagement of the deployment (please leave that to the Generals Rummy). Powell has screwed up by promising Bush a second UN resolution. I own my own company- people who make such mistakes in my company don’t last long. I’m sure Bush has the same principles. We will win the war- but I have a deep fear for the peace. Our recent history at peace keeping doesn’t inspire. Our withdraw in Somalia under Clinton and our withdraw in the Lebanon under Reagan illustrates this. "Freedom’sWorthIt" wrote "they ARE joining us, they ARE applauding us, they ARE ready for their oppressors to be killed and want to help in that way." Cheap shot maybe- but you tell that to the bus full of woman and children we shot up today- killing 7 women and children- YES women and children. I’m no peacenik- I realise that this war is the lesser of two evils (war vs Saddam staying in power). However as a Christian and Conservative I have the RIGHT to question our tactics when avoidable events like this happen. You sir have no RIGHT to question my patriotism.

The CIA has stopped trying to persuade Iraqi generals and political leaders to defect after underestimating their "hatred" of America.

"They are dead men."

----

Exactly. We gave them a choice. They can't say they haven't been warned and offered choices.

I hope we kill them all, not just because I feel vengeful, but because if we don't, they will keep plotting against us and the new regime, as long as they are alive.

It just occurred to me, maybe this is disinformation, to protect the high level officials who are willing to defect, but if Saddam would get an inkling, he would execute them in a minute.

If there is laugher, it is probably at the impossibility of the situation.

If you don't defect, there is a good chance the Americans are going to kill you.

If you do defect, there is a good chance Saddam's secret forces will kill you before you can surrender and your family will be killed.

What's money and a position going to help swing that decision?

On the other hand, we have to do what we have to do. And we can't assume that an Iraqi soldier is going to surrender until he does and until he has been secured.

The Military is trying to deal with IRAQI'S the same way the Republicans try to deal with Democrats, trying to sweet talk and be nice to these people doesn't work. You must defeat them in battle.

Hmmm, next you'll be telling me I need to be an economist to comment on economic issues or a politician to comment on political issues. Lucky for you that personal attacks on people's intellect are banned in this forum!!!!!
