One would think that those changes you desire would be much more forthcoming if Russian troops were alongside US and British in Iraq. Now Russia will be on the losing side and nothing that France or Germany will or can do will change that.

You won't find me defending US policy with regard to Chechnya. I support Russia on that one totally.

Problem is, Bush promised a lot or hinted at a lot and delivered nothing. Putin, an elected official, is seen as caving into America and being left out to dry. What's he to do? Most Russians are against this war, he's an elected official. In republics, elected officials do their people's bidding. Or so the theory goes.
