Just curious: what authority does a state governor have to "seal off" an international border?

All I know is that she is pretty lenient when it comes to border issues. I don't think she'd do anything about our border problems. It's a vote issue, IMO.

To be precise, we're not asking her or the Federal gov't to seal the border. The regulated border crossings, where people cross legally all the time, would remain open.

It's the unregulated miles of border in between the crossings, where hundreds of thousands of illegals cross unimpeded, that need to be closed.

And, although our governor insists that closing that part of the border is a Federal responsibility, the Feds refuse to stop the flow. It is taking citizen involvement to even make a dent in the flow of illegals.

But of course, you know this already...this isn't the first time this point has been made.

oh...i dunno....

Something like when (then) Alabama Governor George Wallace used National Guard Troops to 'guard' a "Public School" Facility from some invading forces....

...well..at least to him they were 'invading forces'...

A governor has the resposibility to protect State lands, even the lands that adjoin national borders.

So the governor should be demanding that the Border Patrol enthusiatically provide border control along all of the national borders. It is not the States sole duty to protect the border lands. This is a mutual duty.

If a Governor whose land adjoined the national border was to call up the State Guard and actually post them along the national border the Feds would find reason to halt all "federal money" coming into the State. This is how ther Feds keep control of States....money control is very effective.
