Deeply rooted historical ties will save the fractured relationship between France and the United States, the new French ambassador to the U.S. said to a roaring crowd at a film festival yesterday.
With tensions running high between the two countries following French President Jacques Chirac's refusal to back an American-led war in Iraq, Jean-David Levitte said a friendly and respectful dialogue on the issue could begin mending fences.

I am not angry at France. I feel sorry for a former friend that is committing suicide.

Ahem. We have indeed been at War with France in the past, Mr Ambassador. There was, for instance, the "Quasi-War" of 1798-1801. One might also count the French and Indian War and, in a broader sense, the French occupation of Mexico (while we never actually fought, they sure skedaddled quick when we completed that little unpleasantness between the states).

"I think French-bashing in the U.S. is contributing to anti-American feelings in France
Right, but the frog marching during one of france's many anti-war marches who was carrying an American flag with a swatstika drawn on it has nothing to do with my feelings of hatred for their country? the fact that they march making fun of our/my President is suppose to give me the warm and fuzzy's about that ungrateful piss-poor nation? All this proves is france, once again, has absolutely no clue.

"I think French-bashing in the U.S. is contributing to anti-American feelings in France, and this is a lose-lose situation."
So basically it's our fault because we are pissed at their traitorous back stabbing government? I love this frog logic. Sorry, divorce papers have been filed.

"I think French-bashing in the U.S. is contributing to anti-American feelings in France, and this is a lose-lose situation," My dear sir, I have been traveling to Europe since 1968, and the French have been bashing Americans for that entire time. I would point to your withdrawal from NATO in 66, trying to purge your language of English words .... oh hell there's too many points to address.
Never again will I bother France with my person, nor my money.
To be sure you understand my statement ... F%&* OFF!

This line is backwards. It should read:
"I think anti-American feelings in France is contributing to French-bashing in the U.S., and this is a lose-lose situation"

Dear President Chirac,
Just a quick note to ensure you understand millions of Americans will never forget you and your countrys cowardice.
We have somewhat considered you an ally and a friend. That perception has recently shifted for all times. And trust me, it is permanent.
I and millions of other Americans are now encouraging our elected officials, President Bushs administration and business leaders to change their thinking about France. You will see in the future a new punitive approach towards our relationship with your country.
Dont expect a public announcement regarding this shift. But it will happen.
With friends like France who needs enemies. We are quickly discovering who our real friends are. It is not you or your country. I imagine a few years down the road there will be hell to pay for your position in the history books and your political partys future.
Were tired of your slander and your weak knees. Thanks for all your help in the United Nations.
Yours truly,

I think French-bashing in the U.S. is contributing to anti-American feelings in France, and this is a lose-lose situation,"So it's our fault again? I guess all those years of the french bashing America shouldn't have caused us any problems, but the poor, sensitive french feelings are what really counts. What's that old saying about dishing it out and taking it?

"We were not alone in thinking that war was not necessary," said Levitte
So numbers make them right? Thing is the numbers in which he seeks justification , when one looks at who they are, many other issues come up. France is dirty as dirty as their partners in crime.

Jean-David Levitte said a friendly and respectful dialogue on the issue could begin mending fences. I would like a little dialogue on how France, a US ally for over 200 years chose to stand with an evil brutal dictator known the world over as a madman, instead of standing with their ally the US.
The only reason I can come up with is that France and Chiraq personally are dirty with illegal Iraqi money and they are attempting to cover it up.

Levitte said Chirac's position on the war may have been misinterpreted by Americans, leading to the current anti-France sentiment among many in the U.S.Misinterpreted? Does he think we're really that stupid?

French film director Romain Goupil, a staunch pro-war advocate, chastised Chirac. "I think France's alliance with Russia, China and Syria is scandalous," he said in response to a query on his cinematic techniques. "We should be allied with you to chase out Saddam Hussein."
Goupil has been one of the most outspoken critics of Chirac in France, attacking the president recently in an ad in France's largest newspaper, Le Monde. He told The Associated Press on Friday that Chirac's refusal to consider any United Nations resolution giving Saddam Hussein an ultimatum doomed diplomatic efforts to disarm Iraq.
"If U.N. resolutions are going to work, you have to follow a strict calendar with specific dates," Goupil said in the interview. "Obviously you can talk about what's right and what's wrong, but without force behind it, it's powerless."
but the Frogs' film people have our film people beat hands down. Maybe we could trade Michael Moore or some other Hollyweirdo for Romain Goupil.

The French govt. is spinning as if their activities were merely pacifistic.

Will heal in two generations IF the French beacome an ally rather than an advisary.
Given that France fired on US troops en route get Hitler and are still trying to stop us from ridding the wolrd of genocidal tryants while supporting so many thats one huge IF.

I think it's a WIN-LOSE situation--America wins by finally acknowledging France for the enemy it's been to U.S. national security for the past two decades.

You can conclude any damn thing you want...my point is France has always been a snake in the grass and never a true friend to the US...and recent events help prove my belief. They are capitulating appeasers who will say yes to anyone with a cracker for them!!!
