thanks for the new link. the fact that fnc isn't mentioning it yet has something, too, to do with the nature of british journalism, i think, which includes an allergy to publishing corrections.

a good parody of this was found in the britcom "hot metal" of a few years ago. in it, a rubert murdoch type buys a well-respected paper. the editor keeps his job, but he's moved more and more out of the swing of things, his desk ultimately ending up in the elevator. but, finally, he put his foot down when the paper (which had been engaged in such activities as putting pinholes in prince charles's condoms), accused a harmless clergyman of being a werewolf. the editor demanded it be retracted, and the murdoch character agreed. next day we see the editor and the murdoch character; the latter asks the former if he noticed that the correction had been published. "yes, i did," replied the editor, "though it took me 15 minutes to find it: '9 down -- he is not a werewolf.'"

Newsmax is just repeating the CNN story.

I wondered last night who he had smooth the sand for him and why his handler didn't pull his mike. Aren't the reporters supposed to clear everything with someone first? Yes, everyone knows Geraldo can't keep a secret if his or anyone else's life depended on him so my question is where the heck was his handler.
