Media fifth-column activity. Arnett is only the tip of the iceberg.

Baghdad Pete was just fired by NBC.

At last Peter's Spew has caught up with him. He'll be lucky to get out of Baghdad alive to experience the death of his career.

Sometimes I wish Bush had gone to congress for a declaration of war against Iraq. I have no doubt he would have gotten it. Then traitors like Arnett could be dealt with properly.

I want more information on the Lucianne.com headline, that blaresout, " Arnett appeared on the TODAY Show and apologized for his remarks. He's Leaving Baghdad immediately" I want to know if that happened before or after NBC fired his ugly ass.

Media fifth-column activity. Arnett is only the tip of the iceberg. Agreed. But at least it would seem this morning that he has melted in the sunlight of the focus brought on his most recent traitorous actions.

He'll be lucky to get out of Baghdad alive to experience the death of his career. I'm glad it's him making that little journey, and not me.

There are some threads on down the page that discuss he timing and interview in detail.

My respect for service provided by military never wavers but my respect is gone once hostlities start and they get on TV carping. Get over the fact you are out of the loop or you didn't get your way. We are winning. The Media is just plain hating this administration and most are leftists.

Now that Arnett appears to be out of a job and leaving Iraq, I suggest that he team up with Michael Moore. They can do a series of "documentaries". Their first, which among others would feature them, could be about patriotism as viewed from their distorted perspective. Its title: "Patriotism from Benedict Arnold to Jane Fonda to the two of us."

Arnett was on the Today show this morning. He appeared right after Matt Lauer made the announcement that NBC, MSNBC, and National Geographic were "severing ties" with Arnett.
He apologized, sort of, but I don't think he indicated that he was leaving Iraq immediately. He seemed to hedge the question IMHO.

Arnett is leaving Iraq? Hmmm....perhaps the rumor should be spread that he is really a CIA operative before he leaves.

It is doubtful that the Iraqis perceive any operational pause. No wonder they have deployed their weapon of last resort: Peter Arnett. Bump! Thanks for the ping.

Would it have been better to advance more deliberately, attempting to avoid the long supply lines associates with the dash for Baghdad? Perhaps, but such a cautious plan would have incurred risks of its own, perhaps permitting the Iraqis more time to consolidate their defenses in the south, thereby delaying the advance on Baghdad to the advantage of Saddams regime. It is nice to finally see this simple fact recognized by someone in the media.
The rapid run to the outskirts of Baghdad freezes at least three Iraqi Divisions. Was it risky? Of course. Did it work? Yes it did. Does that allow a "pause"? Of course it does for some of the troops. We are still 50 miles from Baghdad after a week. But we have forced the enemy to dig in three Divisions and we are going to just pound them from the air until the Marines and the 4th show up. This is a brilliant strategy even if the NYT and the LAT and that now fired boob Peter Arnett think we are losing the war.
And most important - the stategy shortens the war. Saddam's only hope is that war continues for a long enough time for him to get world opinion (meaning Arab and American opinion really) on his side. While we pound them with bombs they pound us with the NYT, LAT and Arnett missiles.
We are winning, they are losing.

Imus' sidekick just joked, "Arnett has been hired by ABC." And a great joke it is!

Lt. Gen. William Wallace, commander of the Armys Fifth Corps was quoted as saying that the war as it was unfolding was different than the one he and his subordinate commanders had war gamed. And the Oakland Raiders found that the Super Bowl, as it unfolded, was different than the one they had "scout teamed." So what! In football, in war, in chess, in life, intelligent people make the best estimates as to the probabilities of occurrence of various obstacles that they might face. But, it's not like being an actor who is reading a script. You make your guesses but you expect to be wrong about a lot of what actually does take place. Those who adapt successfully to unforeseen circumstances will win (Tommy Franks will win.) If you don't adapt, and you're looking for the other team to run up the middle and they continually throw deep, you will lose. Criticism of the war effort based on the allegedly poor prognistication by our leaders is petty and foolish. They should not be graded on their predictions, but rather, on their ability to successful adapt.
