Personally, I don't think his interview with Iraqi TV holds a candle to what he did in the "Operation Tailwind" scandal back in '98 (that got him fired from CNN).

Help the Sister_T out. What did he do then?

Illbay wouldn't know reality if it drove over him. Tailwind was a fake story based upon a senile nursing home patient and a alcoholic street ex-soldier. Arnett blindly read the voiceover. This time he is actively supporting a enemy of our men, at a time of war. Naturally this isn't obvious to IB.

FLASHBACK:

On June 7, 1998, a report on "NewsStand: CNN & Time" alleged that in 1970, U.S. military forces dropped sarin nerve gas on U . S. defectors and civilians in Laos. Almost immediately, participants and critics charged CNN with journalistic malfeasance, and CNN Chairman Tim Johnson soon asked an outside attorney to investigate. Very soon after, CNN retracted the story and apologized to viewers and military personnel. A "NewsStand" follow-up then aired CNN outtakes of some of the Tailwind interviews, an extremely rare break with TV news tradition of not showing outtakes.

Those outtakes made it abundantly clear, that "Operation Tailwind" was solely the product of Peter Arnett's fecund imagination. Soon after this scandal broke, Arnett was forced to leave CNN.

He was involved with a CNN story that backfired and CNN had to post a very embarrassing retraction. The "story" charged that the U.S. had used Sarin nerve gas during the Vietnam war. Didn't happen, and a man who has posted here in the past helped expose the fraud.

Mr. Marzullo, I don't know how often you lurk, but you could really inform Sister_T.
