Controversial MSNBC correspondent Peter Arnett ripped the Bush administration on Iraqi state TV yesterday - while praising the enemy regime for its treatment of journalists.
"Clearly, the American war planners misjudged the determination of the Iraqi forces," the veteran reporter said.

Peters idea of the perfect country:
"Arnett also said "clearly this is a city that is disciplined, the population is responsive to the government's requirements of discipline," CNNs article
I am from behind the Iron Curtain.
Communist Hungary was also a place where we had to be "responsive to to the government's requirements of discipline"

Arnett is giving aid and comfort to the enemy. They used to call that treason.

Arnett is either an Iraqi POW or he is a traitor and should be apprehended and shot for treason.
To: kattracks
Even NBC is covering for him. They say that he is 'risking his life' to bring us war coverage. He hasn't brought me any war coverage I can tell you that. I can't stand the guy.
To: kattracks
Yea, the Iraqis are doing a hell of a job. They have lost most of their territory and are losing dozens of men ever the minute. That sounds like victory to me.

Arnett, a New Zealander.....After all these years I did not know that.

This kind of betrayal of human decency itself is intolerable for anyone who has a shred of wisdom. This man is a Saddam "want-a-be." He identifies with cruel dictators and their horrific persecutions of human beings. We are now seeing the true face of evil among us and it is more shocking than 9-11. Only the lowest of the low will betray their own and MSNBC and NBC are the same if they continue to defend this indefensible, traitorous act. I could not sleep last night for thinking about how in the world a free nation has given to this despot a journalist's power to betray an entire nation at a moment like this. CNN deserves the credit for sacking this dangerous man a long time ago. You know, it occurred to me that Arnett may be sensing that the leaders of Iraq are going to lose this war shortly and he was simply doing something drastic to give his side new strength and to discourage those folks in Iraq who are ready to surrender. Along that line, my heart feels great compassion for those who are helpless in Iraq. They just cannot comprehend the good life which awaits those adorable little children when this war is won and freedom will be possible for them. No more suicide bombings..Enough peace will be possible to unleash the wonderful intelligence and creativity which resides in the spirt of these great people which has been suppressed for so long. Finally, we now see what the goal is for Arnett and his anti-war buddies..It is simple..They want America destroyed.

Arnett is working for Ntl. Geographic. I picked up a copy of that magazine not long ago and thought I was reading a PC edition of ELF, for heaven's sake!
I think it's time Arnett retired. I bet he'd love Cuba.

'Arnett, a New Zealander.....' After all these years I did not know that.
Wrong! He was born in New Zealand, but became a naturalized US citizen. This fact has been covered in numerous threads posted in the last couple of days.

That's why I did not know that, I thought he was American but figured I was wrong, that was what got me so mad at him during Desert storm and the poison gas thing in Cambodia. I didn't read any of the other threads, I saw him on FNC tonight that was enough of him, thanks. I'm surprised the Post said that.

Journalist Peter Arnett reports from Baghdad on NBC television Friday, March 28, 2003. In an interview broadcast by Iraqi TV Sunday, March 30, Arnett said that the American-led coalition's first war plan had failed because of Iraq's resistance, and that strategists are 'trying to write another war plan.' email Peter - Have a question for Peter Arnett?

Either Arnett had an Iraqi gun held to his head when he committed treason or he will soon have an American gun held to his head.

Here's what I just sent to NBC News (I was probably WAY too temperate in my remarks):
I was appalled to see and hear Peter Arnett's comments made on Iraqi t.v., but I was not at all surprised that he feels the way he does. I've known for quite some time that Arnett's reporting was skewed in favor of Iraq. I, am, however, even more appalled -- stunned, actually -- to hear that NBC is continuing to suipport him. The public statement NBC issued was wrong, just flat-out wrong. I've been supporting Tom Brokaw and arguing to others that his coverage was even-handed, but I will no longer watch ANY NBC news program, and I certainly will recommend that people I know NOT watch any show either. You need to bite the bullet and apologize for his remarks which gave aid and comfort to the enemy. As Michael Moore would NEVER say: Shame on you, NBC, Shame on you!

I'd like to say from the beginning that the 12 years I've been coming here, I've met unfailing courtesy and cooperation.Tell that to the family of the reporter that mysteriously fell off the top of the hotel.

THe war plan was to liquidate evil doers and supporters of saddam. It is going well because we find them at every turn, Arnett himself coming out the woodwork. What failure? Arnett has come, and that is a success to me.

Arnet alert.
To: kattracks
MSNBC can spin it any way they want... the bottom line is that Peter Arnett is an Iraqi sympathizer and panderer who is giving the enemy hope and encouragement. Obviously, Mr. Arnett has an agenda against the U.S. war efforts.
He is a conduit for Iraqi propaganda and his comments border on treason.
To: kattracks
Wow. This is weird.
This is the first time ever that I've thought of CNN as being less "kooky" and more "pro-American" than any other news organization. Well, CNN is less "kooky" and more "pro-American" than MSNBC, thanks to this traitor and thanks to the MUCH BETTER collection of CNN reporters on the front lines.
Wow.
