The arresting gear caught the tailhook and the plane still went over the side? How did that happen?

Hydrolic problem. Nothing more known about the cause.

I'm not real hip on carrier arresting gear. The plane has hydraulics in the landing gear that may have failed and catepaulted it over the side. The arresting cable may use hydraulics to catch the plane, I'm not sure on that. Any Navy here that know?
