Don't forget this is The Guardian, very leftist UK newspaper.

Actually, not surprising since this weekend seems to be an all out attack on Rummy.

Seem more like an orchestrated VAST LEFT WING CONSPIRACY.

I just can't take all of this. It has only been 11 days. You'd think a good month, at the least, would be an appropiate time period in which everyone should keep their traps shut and give our boys in uniform a chance.

Do we perhaps have too many left over Clinton appointees in the government or what? Or is this just a bunch of garbage? I am getting sick of one story after another like this. Very demoralizing to our troops, and dangerous to our security.

I haven't had time to follow up on this rummy vs. pentagon rumor, mainly because I don't think it's anything more than the press looking for a villian in the administration, and I still trust rummy.

Can a freeper or three give me the one line synopsis of this? Is it anything to be really concerned about? or is it as I guessed above?

In normal circumstances, the tip-fiddle is put together by military planners in the Pentagon and in General Tommy Franks' central command, who have spent their whole lives working on logistics.

No one at the Pentagon should be messing with a Unified Commander's TPFDL.

LOL! Silly liberal...

Don't you kinow there is a war going on? The leftwing press is in full battle mode against Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld, and they have two of Clinton's top generals on their payroll and leading the fight, MaCaffrey and Clark.

The left wing press thinks that Bush is a bigger enemy than saddam, IMO.

On the contrary - this only shows that we are winning. The vast numbers of OMIGODWEARELOSING stories are intended to blow smoke in our faces. We have already won. Of course the Clinton appointees are back-stabbing. Clinton tolerated no dissent while he was president, least of all from the military. Time to pay them back.

Imagine this. New York City is surrounded by enemy tanks vastly superior to ours. All day long bombs and missile rain down on the key installations in the city. We have no planes in the sky. At what point in this scenario would you say that we had lost?

Nothing to worry about-- another Seymour Hersch piece in the New Yorker this weekend, I think, spearheaded this political attack. It's very reminiscent of the Hersch hit piece on Rumsfield back during the Afghanistan war-- seems like it was just a week or two after that that the cities in Afghanistan started falling like a row of dominos.

SOS. On the other hand, some of these people are so reliably wrong that their dire predictions become good omens. ;)

"Very demoralizing to our troops, and dangerous to our security."

It's only going to get worse! Our Commander in Chief is pulling the rug out from under the media's dream of UN whirled government and "Peace at any price!"

They don't care what happens to our nation as they think it needs the arrogance whipped out of it with another Vietnam failue.

They see our President as the epitome of American arrogance. It's eminating from both the european and American media that's upset that "W" won't sit and watch their war coverage like stupid LBJ did till he got discouraged and quit!!!

The demonstrations have been generated for the same reason. They're hoping both Presidents from Texas are quitters and they're just not going to stop trying!!!

I don't like it either. But, we need to know what the enemy is thinking, saying and doing.

The defence secretary may come to regret providing that particular insight into his working day, particularly now that he is insisting the war plans do not bear his fingerprints.

I heard Rumsfeld in a film clip refer to the OPLAN as General Franks' war plan. That made me bristle.

I think this article is too thick on the criticisms of Rumsfeld. Having said that, Rummy's way of war is about 30-50% short on the foxhole numbers.

Fortunately, the military is flexible and adaptable, therefore the errors are correctable in fairly short order. This assumes that the ChiComs don't give North Korea some serious marching orders anytime soon.
