Baghdad, Iraq: Iraqi Satellite Channel Television in Arabic 1530 GMT 28 Mar 03 [Interviews with Iraqis identified as "agents" for the United States, by an unidentified announcer; date and place not given--recorded]

[Announcer] In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate. But God willed to justify the truth according to his words, and to cut off the roots of the unbelievers; that he might justify truth and prove falsehood false, distasteful though it be to those in guilt. Remember ye implored the assistance of your Lord, and He answered you: "I will assist you with a thousand of the angels, ranks on ranks." God made it but a message of hope, and an assurance to your hearts: (in any case) there is no help except from God: And God is Exalted in Power, Wise [Koranic verses].

Honorable viewers, we will present to you an example of the agents of the US-Zionist intelligence services and their new methods. Your security agencies, with the help of the creative Iraqi technical experts, managed to penetrate the agents. With the help of God, they were able to intercept those international phone calls, determine the locations of those agents, and specify their methods of criminal communications. These communications aim to guide the enemy to the vital installations, so that the covetous, unjust enemies would target them with their vicious bombs and missiles. They are also aimed to correct the targets after each aggressive bombing of our heroic people. This is a misguided person who threw himself into the arms of the devil. Identify yourself.

[Qadir] My name is Qadir Ibrahim Qadir, from Arbil. I am 37 years old.

[Announcer] Are you married?

[Qadir] Yes.

[Announcer] How were you recruited?

[Qadir] I had a friend. He and I were in prison together. After the latest amnesty, he came to me one day and said, look, Qadir, let us do something. We went to Al-Sulaymaniyah. In Al-Sulaymaniyah, he said let us go to the house of my grandfather in Baghdad. We came to Baghdad. He introduced me to a friend of his. Afterward, we took this chap with us and went back to Al-Sulaymaniyah area, where we stayed in the (?Shar Shanar) Hotel. There, we met with Shaykh Mahdi and Ali Umar. He said: Look this is what I do for Mahdi. He said money [words indistinct].

[Announcer] What kind of work was he doing?

[Qadir] He wanted to work with foreigners. We did not know who those foreigners were.

[Announcer] What kind of work was that?

[Qadir] They gave them a Thurayya device. They would go into Baghdad. When the bombardment starts, they would transmit information immediately.

[Begin phone call recordings] [Unidentified caller] Hello.

[Qadir] Hello. How are you?

[Caller] I am fine.

[Qadir] What are you doing?

[Caller] How are you doing brother Qadir?

[Qadir] We are monitoring the situation well.

[Caller] How is the shaykh doing?

[Qadir] I do not know [words indistinct].

[Caller] You do not know him.

[Qadir] I do not know him. They gave us an address. They said there was an address. [End phone call recording]

[Announcer] Tell me how the operation proceeded?

[Qadir] I have this telephone. I would come to Baghdad, where I wuld stay with relatives. Because of my relatives in Baghdad, I could stay in Baghdad and monitor all this. I was arrested with a telephone in my possession.

[Announcer] Who gave you the device?

[Qadir] Lieutenant Colonel Qadir [last name indistinct].

[Announcer] Did he tell you how to use it?

[Qadir] Yes, he told me once bombs fall in Baghdad, give me the locations. We fear that there might be a mistake. Give me the locations so that we could correct them.

[Announcer] Tell us what your job was?

[Qadir] As usual, I would call the lieutenant colonel, who would call his superiors.

[Announcer] What was your mission?

[Qadir] It was to bring 2 kg of TNT. I handed them 2 kg of TNT. At the same time, I gave them a telephone which they used to pass on information on the coordinates.

[Announcer] To whom?

[Qadir] To foreigners.

[Announcer] Who are those foreigners?

[Qadir] Americans.

[Announcer] How did they benefit from this information?

[Qadir] When a bomb does not fall on the right place, they would correct it.

[Announcer] In return for what did you do that?

[Qadir] In return for money.

[Announcer] How much did they give you?

[Qadir] I received 10 banknotes [not further specified].

[Announcer] How were you arrested?

[Qadir] I was arrested in the Baghdad al-Jadidah neighborhood.

[Announcer] You are a married man. Did you not think about your family?

[Qadir] Yes, I thought about my family. But I made this horrible mistake. I wish that nobody else would commit such a mistake.

[Announcer] This is another misguided person. Identify yourself.

[Hammadah] (Arid) Ahmad Hammadah. I am 42 years old. I am married, with six children.

[Announcer] How were you recruited?

[Hammadah] I was recruited through persons, one of whom is called Majid and the other is Ahmad Wayyis.

[Announcer] How did you come to know them?

[Hammadah] We [word indistinct] in the same place.

[Announcer] How did you receive the device?

[Hammadah] I received from [name indistinct] through a mediator in Karkuk.

[Announcer] Did you know what was the function of that device?

[Hammadah] I knew later, for I had not seen such a device before.

[Announcer] Where you assigned a mission?

[Hammadah] My mission was to [locate] camps, centers, party centers, and things like that.

[Announcer] Tell me what the nature of your job was.

[Hammadah] I would go with this chap Safa, who introduced me to a person named Shihab. Safa had a super [Crown Toyota]. He used to drive. We used to measure distances. He used to write those distances in English.

[Announcer] What were those places?

[Hammadah] Camps, police centers, and Ba'th Party branches, and things like that.

[Announcer] In return for what did you do that?

[Hammadah] We were misled. It was not worth it. It was only a matter of few pennies. There were no more than four banknotes [not further specified] by which we were misled.

[Announcer] How were you captured?

[Hammadah] In my area, close to my house.

[Announcer] Did you expect to be captured?

[Hammadah] Certainly not.

[Announcer] Your country is currently facing the fiercest onslaught by the forces of injustice and arrogance -- the United States. What were you telling yourself while doing such things?

[Hammadah] I am so regretful. My regret is without limits. My regret is beyond description. I felt that what we were doing was wrong and against the country. I am now 42 years old. I have not done anything like this all my life. My remorse is indescribable.

[Announcer] Honorable viewers, this is another misguided person, who sold himself to the devil. Identify yourself.

[Husayn] Ali Shati al-Zu'ayb Husayn. I was born in 1974. I am from Baghdad. I am a military service deserter.

[Announcer] Have you not heard of the amnesty?

[Husayn] I heard of the amnesty, but the so-called Iraqi opposition said you are not covered by this amnesty and that this amnesty is not real. They said some prisoners were released, while other prisons are full of prisoners, especially political prisoners, who were not covered by this amnesty. They told us that since we belong to the so-called opposition, this amnesty did not cover us. They used to tell us that the amnesty was meant to fool us and then to kill us.

[Announcer] There was very extensive coverage of the prisons. The media even visited the prisons and asked about what was happening, which was then called the clearing of prisons.

[Husayn] Yes, the media and press of the so-called opposition used to say that those who were leaving the prisons cheerfully were intelligence and security men and not the true prisoners.

[Announcer] Well, Ali, how were you recruited?

[Husayn] In 2000, I fled to northern Iraq, because of a case of misappropriation of state funds. I worked there with the so-called Iraqi opposition for a period of time. Afterward, I met with General Mike, a US national, who works for the CIA. I met with him several times. The general held meetings with the Arabs there fleeing the state for being wanted for cases of theft, immoral crimes, and things like that. All of them were wanted for committing crimes. He would meet with them and claim that Iraq is finished, and that they would take over Iraq. He also claimed that the regime would come to an end. Judging by the domestic situation...

[Announcer, interrupting] Did he tell you that they would take over Iraq?

[Husayn] Yes, that they would occupy Iraq. He used to say that the Iraqi people do not like the regime, are psychologically devastated, and that security is nonexistent. He used to say, God willing, we will give you high posts, and you would be agents for us. Even if we leave your country, you would remain our agents inside Iraq. He also used to tell us that we would be in the new leadership.

[Announcer] He used to describe you as agents.

[Husayn] Yes. With financial temptations and other things...

[Announcer, interrupting] How much did he pay?

[Husayn] He used to give us four or five banknotes a month along with anything else we needed, all ready for us in the finest hotels. These things in particular are what lead to corruption. He did not feel happy if somebody used to pray. The first thing he would ask you, do you pray? The more you plunge into corruption, the more he pushes you into it. He would bring you all that is necessary to push you into corruption.

[Announcer] Well, he managed to recruit through temptation. He offered you many things that any young man might be tempted to follow.

[Husayn] Yes.

[Announcer] I want you to talk about the situation in northern Iraq. How were things there?

[Husayn] In northern Iraq, prices are high. There are either poor or rich families. There is no middle class. Poor families are suffering so much. There are many (?refugees). They claim that there are no refugees, but there are many refugees there. I heard with my own ears the poor families saying that the regime was better than this government. The regime used to pave streets and build schools and hospitals. Now nothing of this is happening. All privileges are now for the Barzanis and Talbanis, the ruling tribes.

[Announcer] Was there any foreign presence in the north?

[Husayn] Yes, there are foreigners -- British, Israelis, and all nationalities you can think of are present in the north.

[Announcer] You were able to tell who was who?

[Husayn] Yes, they are known. You would be able to tell that so and so works for the Turkish intelligence services, so and so for the Israeli intelligence services, so and so for the Iranian intelligence services. They are there. Their offices are known.

[Announcer] How did they behave?

[Husayn] Quite normally. Their movements were not restricted at all. They used to move as though it was their place.

[Announcer] Tell me how Mike recruited you. We knew that he did that through temptation.

[Husayn] Yes. Mike met with me several times. At the beginning, in 2001, he used to claim that they would finish Iraq and occupy it. He used to say that they would remove the regime and occupy Iraq. He used to say whether the inspectors inspect or do not inspect, the aim is to occupy Iraq, whether the inspectors find or do not find weapons. Their intent was to occupy Iraq by all means. He used to say: We do not recognize the Security Council or any state that objects to this position. We the CIA derive our powers from President Bush. We will take over Iraq, no matter what.

[Announcer] Ok, tell me, what did Mike train on?

[Husayn] Mike trained me on several devices. He asked me to specify through these devices vital and strategic sites anywhere in Iraq. I would send information about these sites through this device to a satellite, from which they would receive the information.

[Announcer] Mike trained you on this device, including many other devices.

[Husayn] Yes, he trained me, including this device, which specifies the coordinates, by meter. I would take the coordinates of any site in Iraq. I would take the coordinates and immediately transmit them through this device.

[Announcer] Okay, go on.

[Husayn] When I came [into the Iraqi Government-controlled areas] to carry out the mission assigned to me by Mike, I imagined that there was no control in Iraq. I entered [words indistinct] and went to the areas where I was to do the job. Finally, when I decided to leave Iraq, I was arrested by the Iraqi authorities.

[Announcer] Okay, Ali, you were given a mission, and you went to Baghdad to fulfill it. What did you see in Baghdad?

[Husayn] When I entered Baghdad, it was the opposite of the picture conveyed to me by Mike and the so-called Iraqi opposition and the news media there. It was completely the opposite. I found that the people were united with the leadership. The security situation was very good. They said the Iraqi people were not receiving their rations, especially in southern areas. While I was leaving, I was arrested by the Iraqi security authorities. During the investigations, it was proved that I was under observation from the moment I entered and throughout all the missions I did, by both audio and video. They recorded the places I went to and the people with whom I met. In addition, they gave an account of all the things that happened and in pictures.

[Announcer] You know that the Iraqis everywhere, in both the south and north, have prepared themselves and firmly entrenched themselves to confront the forces of infidelity and injustice, the empire of darkness, the United States. Do you know that a decent Iraqi woman in the Suq al-Shuyukh area fired a shell toward a US personnel carrier and hit it? Where have you been from all this?

[Husayn] I said from the outset, the picture was the opposite of what they had told me, the brainwashing they did to me, and the temptations they offered me. I thought that there was nothing like this in Iraq, and the Iraqi people were persecuted. They made me believe that there is killing, looting, and theft, and that everything is out of control in Iraq.

[Announcer] Okay, Ali, I want you to tell me about the treatment of Mike, other CIA agents, agents of other services, and the so-called opposition. How did they treat you?

[Husayn] The so-called Iraqi opposition always looked down on us. Regardless of who you were and with whom you work, they would look at you as though you were a child. They have respect for neither the old nor the young. An official would sit to eat with the general, the general would look down on the so-called opposition, and would consider them agents to him. The liaison officer between us and the general would look down on us. He would come to meet with us wearing shorts and a tee-shirt, while we were well-dressed for this meeting, which would be taken as an official meeting. He would come in wearing his shorts, without saying hello. You would say I want to say something, but he would insult you. This is the least that would happen. We would feel pained that we had to come back to such a meeting.

[Announcer] Okay, Ali, inside you as a human being, if this was how the agents of the CIA and the so-called opposition would treat you and humiliate you, did you expect them to give you something?

[Husayn] No, I am saying this and people could be hearing me, those who were with me knew that if, God forbid, something happens, we will be the first to leave so as to reveal the truth of the so-called Iraqi opposition and agents. If nothing happens to us, they would liquidate us themselves, so that we would not convey the truth.

[Announcer] Ok, Ali, with all this humiliation and the facts you have seen in northern Iraq, why did you not give yourself up to the competent authorities.

[Husayn] Whenever we were on the verge of giving ourselves up, they would feel this, perhaps through our behavior and the way we talk, they would tell us that the moment you give yourself up to the regime you would be executed.

[Announcer] Ali, you said something about the family and tribe, did you think about your mother and father when you did that? What humiliation will you leave for them?

[Hammadah] My remorse is beyond description.

[Qadir] I made a terrible mistake.

[Husayn, keeps silent]

[Announcer] Blessed by the great efforts of the great men who penetrated the technology of the accursed America and ridiculed its actions, which were aborted by the creative Iraqi minds and the vigilant defenders of great Iraq. They are recording in these immortal days the great deeds of heroism everywhere in great Iraq. They exposed the terrorism of the state that claims that it came carrying its unsold merchandize -- democracy -- on the barrels of guns, in dynamite sticks, and through the destruction of infrastructure that serves the people. Curse on them.

For the scum disappears like forth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth. [Koranic verse]

[Video shows an announcer interviewing three persons successively. All are seated on couches. They are shown speaking through a Baghdad Republic of Iraq microphone. Clips show mobile phones, cordless radios, and what seems to be bricks broken open for something hidden inside them]
