We try to link a duplicate thread to the original. I think the problem is, if you post to a deleted thread, you will see it in your self search. But, if you haven't posted to a deleted thread, you don't know it was posted. In general, we don't delete duplicates if it's more than 5-6 hours apart. Sometimes, a topic is so hot, we see 10-15 posts of the same article within a short peroid of time.

So, what you're suggesting is, instead of deleting a thread, we should lock it so you can find the original faster. Locking a thread will allow you to see it in the 'threads' page, and allow you to follow it to the original thread. Maybe this is something we can impliment immediately. I'll post it to the moderator area for discussion. I will also let you know what we decide. Thanks for your input.

No, what I'm suggesting is, in unordinary times (which we are certainly in), you just let things roll along as they happen.

I realize you have a very tough job, but please realize that the majority of FR users, myself included, don't try to "find" threads; we take em' as they come, and speaking for myself, I hate clicking on a post and finding it removed. It's wartime; I want to get the news uploaded as quickly as possible, and I have been frequently stymied in the attempt.

Look, just use your own discretion; if the repost is regarding some irrelevant minutae, then fry it. But if it's an article which may have a prior posting (of hundreds of replies), let it go so that we (I) may reply without adding to the general higgledy piggledy of the original.

Thanks in advance and thanks for your kind personal response.
