If they are being told they have a choice between getting shot or committing suicide while killing the forces who are trying to liberate their families, why are they choosing the latter? Either way they die, but at least if they refuse to do it, they'd be dying for the liberation of their people and not taking other lives with them.

They threatened their families too.

It's encouraging, but I say we wait until we are ready. The more tactics like this, the more even the guards will turn on Saddam.

I don't see that they are choosing the latter. These guys escaped, and one said his brother was shot in front of him. Can we surmise why the brother was shot?
