I doubt he'll subject himself to O'Reilly but if he does, maybe the "balanced" point of view could be a US Marine!

In person we could only hope

Thank you, Jeff.

Someone posted this on the live war thread yesterday and it helped me:

From NRO's The Corner:

PRAYING FOR VICTORY [Rod Dreher]

Fr. Joseph Wilson of St. Luke's Parish in Whitestone, Queens, says he has been reading National Review since he was a small boy. Which might explain this example of courage, clear thinking, and action.

Fr. Wilson received the following message today from an official of the Brooklyn diocese:

Please include this in your Mass announcements this Sunday: "Everyone is invited to a Mass for the Restoration of Peace at Holy Trinity Church on Tuesday at 5PM. Father Latona, the Pastor, will be Celebrant."

Well, that did it. Fr. Wilson, who has just had it with pious peacenikery in this time of great peril, sent out the following fax to all the parishes that had received the first:

Faithful Sons and Daughters of the Church are invited to Saint Luke's Church on Monday evening, 7:15PM, for a Mass, Holy Hour and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament, imploring the intercession of our Lady of Lepanto for the safety of our armed forces. The Holy Rosary, which once turned back those who would destroy Christian civilization, will be prayed before Mass.

There are many small and not-so-small stands being taken by people in support of our war effort right now.

Two more for forwarding to the troops:

The GREAT One shows real class

Woods Lends Support to Troops Overseas

Forwarding this one to the Professor, for my, not his benefit: I Was Wrong!**A Must Read

Here's my letter to President Bollinger:

Dear Mr. Bollinger:

Professor Nicholas De Genova of Columbia University was quoted in the New York Post as wishing a "million Mogadishus" on American servicemen in Iraq at an anti-war rally. He is quoted as saying: "The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military."

There is such a thing as protest. There is also such a thing as a line over which civilized people may not cross. People and organizations that provide a forum for this kind of uncivilized and morally repugnant behavior are complicit in it.

As Columbia would not provide academic credentials to Holocaust deniers, it should not do the same for those who publicly call for the murder and the desecration of the bodies of our military.

It is not possible to disassociate Columbia from Mr. De Genova by a pro-forma comment regarding the fact that this is not the University’s position and a defense of his free speech rights. Mr. De Genova is not here engaged in academic research. He has used his university position to provide weight to what, in the mouth of a drunk, would be considered insane ranting.

You will do what you consider to be proper. I will watch what Columbia does to rescue its reputation from the dishonor that Mr. De Genova has associated with your school.

Sincerely

My email

I take offense to Nicholas De Genova comments. I am not an ignorant impoverished troll from fly
over country but an educated troll with two advanced degrees. I was raised in poverty but I did
not even know we were poor until my sisters told me at age 23. I did my two tours of Viet Nam
and have no apologies to offer. You have many to offer. I have two sons in the United States
Marine Corps and to have an announcement from Nicholas De Genova to proclaim that they
should die is beyond the pale. Be assured that I will do what I can to disseminate his agenda and
Columbias’ far and wide.

Best regards,

Patrick Wharton

Freedom does not include wanting your countrymen dead. You have the freedom to say what you want but there becomes a time when speech is provocation. This is clearly the case. As for the case that if you stood in front of me and wished me dead and I cleaned your clock; I would welcome a judge or jury to acquit or find me guilty. I have already been there and know how a honorable group of individuals would react. I would bet on being acquitted unless I was in California or the Northeast US where liberals and democrats are thick as thieves.

What does "Bravo Sierra" mean?

Bravo is 'B', phonetically in military-speak.
Sierra is 'S', phonetically in military-speak.

There was that one sign to and I feel exactly the same way about them ... and any others who vocally advocate such sentiments.

Those incidents however do nt represent the majority of the protestors, most of whom are simply misguided and ignorant (IMH) of history and who represent the fodder for these others.

Just my two cents. In any case, we can agree that this particular incident has crossed a line well beyond simple protest to the war and is at the very least seditious, if not traitorous.

It's a start.

Perhaps many, many more will pick it up.

Email your entire adress book, let them know what was said, ask them to email this individual and voice outrage, as well as to the President of Coumbia, Bollinger ... and then ask them to in turn forward it on to their entire email lists.

Thank you, and God bless you for your service to our Republic, and that of all of your comrades.

Well, directly and faithfully stated to this traitorous elitist. May he long remember, may we cause him never to forget this airing of his true feelings about the land that has nutured him and allowed him to rise to whatever level of incompetence he has ... and may he now fall. And may his fall be a message and a warning to others of like ilk to crawl back into the holes and dark, loathsome places that bred them.

Thank you. Please forward word of this to all you know and ask them to contact the Professor and the President of the UNiversity and air their outrage ... then ask them to forward it on to all they know and do likewise.

I think it will be an indication of the political landscape today that this guy will be out of a job before summer.

Whatever we may feel about the underlying ills in the nation, and you know exactly where I stand on those issues, Saddam has violated the cease fire accords he signed with us at the end of the first war. It was the United States of America who wielded the power then (and now) to make those accords stick and we reserved the right to act if he did not comply.

We have waited too long to act it is true, but he is still violating those accords and he is most definitely in cahoots with our other enemies, who want nothing more than to see us dead and our liberty (what vistage we have remaining) utterly destroyed. He would develop the means, and place it in their hands to do so.

There is no doubt that there are many of those in our own country and own government who are in league with these same ends. This individual (the Professor) has revealed himself clearly to be amongst them. He nad all of his ilk need to at last understand that we liberty loving, morality loving, God-fearing Americans are at the end of our rope as respects their activities.

We need to complete the task in Iraq and we need to allow it to not only finish off Saddam, but the UN as well. I hope it does but have my doubts as to the latter. We need to then extend it to the other enemies of this nation, here and abroad.

I will say this about George W. Bush. I believe he is sincere when he says he is God fearing and a Christian. I did not believe it for an instant about the former occupant of that office before him. Therefore I believe he (Bush) can be influenced for the good by God in Heaven and His Holy Ghost. I pray for that each day. I know he has tendancies towards some global issues that I eskew and do not agree with at all. On the other hand, he has shown himself to lean in the right direction on my two most major issues, the 2nd Amendment and Abortion. The correct action on those two issues is where I believe the fate of this Republic rests at this stage.

One to give us the power as a people to defend ourselves physically against tyranny from whatever quarter, be it foreign or domestic. The other to restore to us as a people the moral clarity to see what it is we are defending and why. It will require both.

God bless you Rick, my friend, and yours. Thank you for your faith and your commitment to principle and this Republic.

Agree 100% and he needs to feel the weight and consequence of such actions.
