Thats unbelievable. I used to carpool witha former EMT who told me locking the doors in your car will greatly aid the structural integrity of your car helping you to survive the crash.

I've heard exactly the same thing. When the doors are locked, they are more likely to stay closed in the crash. Thus, in a head-on collision, the door will be there to keep the door frame, and thus the passenger cage, from collapsing.
