March 28, 2003 -- EVEN with coalition forces engaged in Iraq, the State Department, the CIA and other key agencies remain hostile to the Iraqi National Congress - demonstrably the most effective, most representative and most democratic anti-Saddam Iraqi organization.

I have one question. Why? Why are we doing this?

I have been greatly impressed with the INC figures I have seen.

You can always count on the State Department to try and gum up the works. It is loaded with idealistic idiots who live in a gigantic deception many people call the New World Order.

Since the State Department has blocked the INC repeatedly, it must have something to do with the Saudis.

That's the whole rub with our objective; there is no representative government save Israel in the Middle East.

None of the neighboring countries, save Kuwait, want to see the Iraqi people liberated and forming a Federation next door. None would be able to tolerate the comparison. Next thing you know, their own people would be demanding emancipation.

The fact our own State Department has assumed boot licking position is not just disgusting but un-American.

I just posted elsewhere on this site the exact same thing: without verbosity, I just said "Iraqi National Congress."
I was surprised that the survey (about who should administer Iraq after the war) gave us only two options:
the US (the Great Satan) and,
the UN (the Sanctions people)!
We might not like the IRC.
BUT they are probably going to be elected anyway, if we EVER get out of THIS mess.
So, let's get them involved! They would love to help.
Honestly, if there is not some involvment in the only representation of the Iraqi people we can become allied with NOW, this war is doomed to wallow in misery for a very long time.
Because, some in Islamic countries are being very successful in turning this into an "Allah vs. Satan" conflict.

Wake up, BUSH!!! PHONE THE IRC! NOW !!!

IRAQ for the IRAQIS!!!

Hmmmm... maybe our CIA know something about these people that we don't? History tells us that we should be more careful about who we support to initially rule in newly formed democracies.

"Wake up, BUSH!!! PHONE THE IRC! NOW !!!"

Who, or what, is the IRC? This article and other comments refer to the "INC", Iraqi National Congress, but where does the "IRC" come into the conversation?

I have received a note from a reader - seems that the IRC is not getting the press it deserves, so many seem to be following the war, but don't know about the Iraqi National Congress. I answered him with the following, which I feel deserves a posting here:

The Iraqi National Congress is perhaps best described as a political group (OK largely self appointed), formed in Vienna, that would perhaps best be described as corresponding to George Washington's Army fighting the British in the Revolutionary War, which also, by the way, was not elected by the populace of the soon-to-be-formed United States.

I would like to interject here that in 1776, not many of the colonists would have been in favor of a foreign nation flat out invading, in order to "liberate" us from the British. We did, however, have significant help from the French, which seems to have been largely forgotten today.

Essentially they are a rag-tag group fighting Saddam since about 1990, perhaps earlier. We are providing them with about NO assistance, which I am sure future generations will consider to be one of the biggest mistakes made by our government in the present century.

They are all holed up in the northern half of the country, in Kurdish held territory. We are not assisting them at all, and we are spurning their hopes of governing a free Iraq.

I mention them because they are the best hope of restoring legitimacy to the present conflict.

They consider themselves as a Congress, representing the true will of the Iraqis, and they are AGAINST Saddam.

I am sorry this is not more complete. If you go to google.com, and do a search for them, you will find a lot more information.

I seriously believe they are our best hope of ending the conflict before the entire Arab world is involved.

Please help if you can.

Thank you,
Ron
