One of the analysts on Fox a couple days ago (I think it was David Christian) said that it's standard Soviet doctrine to put these chemical barrels at the flanks of a mine field. As we approach, a tank on the other side would fire at the barrels, causing the CW to disperse. That would force us to go straight into the mines if we continued to advance.

Of course that will only work if the Iraqi's actually have a Tank still functioning --LOL

We may be waiting for a change in the direction of wind flow. If we attack when the wind is blowing to the North or North East then any bio-chem attack would blow back to Baghdad.
