Methinks the media is obsessing too much about the "schedule." We will do what we want, when we want.

Proof that those who want to know the truth, can know it. That of course leaves out most news organizations.

Completely agree with you. The media has been obsessed with the horse-race component of the story, without anything approaching perspective.
For instance, while we mourn the death of our soldiers, honor their sacrifice, and pray for comfort for the families, consider their following: Great White's pyrotechnician killed 4 times as many young Americans in two minutes than the entire Iraqi military has in 8 days of combat.

For perspective, I was curious how many people have died on the highways in the US in the last week. Anyone have a guess?

Great Observation!
It bears repeating: "Great White's pyrotechnician killed 4 times as many young Americans in two minutes than the entire Iraqi military has in 8 days of combat."
The Media are a bunch of Nattering Nabobs of Negativism, and they hate our Commander in Chief.

They started using F-4s on carriers at the tail end of the war when they wanted the fastest thing they had on the carriers to guard against kamikazes. The downside was still landing on carriers, which the F-4 was never good at. Most of the pictures of F-4 carrier landings I've seen are horrible.

Wow. Now that's what I would call putting this thing in its proper perspective. :)

And the more Saddam's loyalists are ground down in this happy hunting ground for U.S. air power, the fewer they will meet in the streets of Baghdad.Sounds good to me. Great articles, keep 'em coming.

Somehow, the media has assumed that this war would be over in a matter of days. That is unrealistic. To quote President Bush in response to the leading question: "
Mr. President, can you help me understand the timing of this war? You talked yesterday that it will be -- we're far from over. Today you said, it's going slowly, but surely we're working our way to our end goal. Given that the resistance has been as strong as it's been in the south, and that we have what you call the most hardened, most desperate forces still around Baghdad, are we to assume that this is going to last -- could last months and not weeks -- and not days?
President Bush: However long it takes. That's the answer to your question and that's what you've got to know. It isn't a matter of timetable, it's a matter of victory. And the Iraqi people have got to know that, see. They've got to know that they will be liberated and Saddam Hussein will be removed, no matter how long it takes.
