The Bush administration, eager to prove that Iraq is hiding weapons of mass destruction, is engaged in a heated internal debate over whether to seek a return of the United Nations weapons inspection team to help expose the regime's suspected arsenal of chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons, according to government and UN officials.

''Right now we are focused on the current operations in Iraq and continue to assess a variety of options for a role for UN weapons inspectors in postwar Iraq,''

I'm sure President Bush and Condi Rice have some options for them all right.

Maybe they could go ahead and send the inspectors into Baghdad right now...

No point in even worrying about this now. When the war is over, and access to every bunker, every palace, and every captured Iraqi official is possible, then you'll find "something". Until then, the point is essentially mut.

Our soldiers are not shedding their blood and dying so that we can send Hans Blix and his merry band of idiots to go looking for WMD's.

Surely not.

Now everyone settle down.

The inspectors that the US is talking about are the Third Infantry Division, the First Marine Division, the Fourth Infantry Division, the First Infantry Division, and various other support groups (armor and mechanized and air, etc.)

We're just saying that we'll be sending them in - period.

One official who has participated in administration deliberations said yesterday that Bush officials ''are desperate'' to confirm the charges that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction

Desparate? I don't know. I'm suspicious of this article. Actually, I've become suspicious of most war news articles.

Could this be the prelude to a tragic 'friendly fire' incident??

I HATE the UN.

But there may be an opportunity here, LOL.

Here BLIX, Chemical Warheads, Russian Markings, French Markings, ANY QUESTIONS?

Here BLIX, Chemical Suits on DEAD IRAQIs, holding Chemical WARHEADS.

THINK this is ENOUGH PROOF?

And Video TAPE the Whole Thing.

The UN inspectors are a loosing proposition. Blix is annoyed that he was disregarded. He has repeatedly stated he has found no evidence and has been wishy washy. I believe we get more out of the the embeded journalist for verification than we get out of the Blixi Brigade.

This article is a complete and utter fabrication. There is not ONE attributable quote, and its very premise is so breathtakingly improbably that no other possibility exists. Someone just made it up. I can guarantee that NO such discussions have ever taken place, nor would this administration EVER consider such a move, especially after having proven that the UN is totally irrelevant.

Give them a canteen and a sandwich and aim them towards Baghdad. Tell them you don't want to hear back from them until they discover some WMD or bring back a current picture of them shaking Saddams hand. Drop a homing beacon tracking bug in their "back pocket" as they head out. If they aren't killed right away, maybe they will be taken to Saddam. Then just dial in the JDAMS on that signal.
