NEW YORK (AP) -- A Columbia University professor told an anti-war gathering that he would like to see "a million Mogadishus" -- referring to the 1993 ambush in Somalia that killed 18 American servicemen.
At Wednesday night's "teach-in" on the Columbia campus, Nicholas De Genova also called for the defeat of U.S. forces in Iraq and said, "The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military." And he asserted that Americans who call themselves "patriots" are white supremacists.

Regarding #35
Can you please clarify the policy on what constitutes prohibited "personal information". The info I posted was directly from Columbia University's public website -- in the past such postings have been allowed.

He reminds me of a young Dr. Smith from Lost in Space.

his mention of the Somali ambush -- "I personally would like to see a million Mogadishus" -- was largely met with silence. It was met with silence because the morons in the crowd have no clue about what happened in Mogadishu. They don't have any frame of reference and don't know if Mogadishu means Americans die (wild cheers) or America wins (boo!).

My bet is that this guy will get tenure - if he is not already tenured - a 100% pay raise, a big office, a staff, NO CLASSES TO TEACH, and a government grant to do research on victims of US policies. I could go on.

The info I posted was directly from Columbia University's public website. Then freepers who are interested should have no trouble finding that information on their own. Please do not post it again. Thanks.

"De Genova, 35, an assistant professor of anthropology,. . ." Wonder if Wanda Baucus (Mrs. Max Baucus) was in the crowd since both are anthropologists and share the same viewpoint? If De Genova (or for that matter Wanda Baucus doesn't like it in the States), please by all means transport both of rear ends to Mogadishu or Iraq posthaste. We patriots don't want either of them to scarf up like a pig amenities available to citizens of our great country.

a million mogadishus would kill every muslim on this planet, and 18 million of us... I see that you can do the math also. The original statement is illustrative of the thought process (such as it is) of such imbeciles - first, they love to make a dramatic-sounding statement, just to get a reaction, without considering the reality of what such a statement would mean. Second, they usually only consider one side of things - I'm sure that this schitt-for-brains didn't think about the roughly 1,000 Somalis that our Special Forces guys killed while defending themselves.

I won't, but I still think this policy needs to be clarified and posted where freepers can see it. What I posted was an individual's publicly available business contact info -- not a personal phone, e-mail, or residence address.

Wants to send more sandbags to Iraq to defend Baghdad. I actually think it's a good idea.

I have no problem with people protesting the war, they have the right to do so and it is good that decent is voiced in a society....but everything has its limits and this guy put a rocket pack on his back to go over that line.

I also wish to abide by the rules, but posting contact info in the past has been allowed. I'd appreciate a clarification of the rules.
