Three Men Drop Package, Rappel Down NYC Bridge - TV

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Three unidentified men walked across the Williamsburgh Bridge that links Manhattan and Brooklyn, dropped packages near construction workers, and then rappelled over the side of the bridge, local Fox affiliate television channel WNYW reported Friday morning.

The men were taken into custody immediatley afterwards, the report said. According to the report, the bridge was closed.

WNYW said the three men in custody were of Middle Eastern descent.

The Manhattan Bridge, which also links Manhattan and Brooklyn, was closed going towards Brooklyn, WNBC said.

According to WNYW, all the bridges going into Manhattan are being examined.

Actually my comment was to Henrietta whom I pinged. She was on a previous threaad defending the journalist who purposefully acted suspicious around a nat'l monument and refused to answer questions of the police so he would be detained and could write a whiny story on it. She didn't think "suspicion" is good enough to question or vet anyone. I disagree.

In the Arizona desert all that would be necessary to keep them alive for future prosecution is sanitation, food and water. In Alaska the taxpayers would have to house and warm them. waste of funds, IMHO.

No, as far as I know, the mere dropping of packages is not a crime, unless there is something illegal in the packages that causes harm to someone else.

And yes, I will continue to defend "whiny journalists" who "act suspicious" (whatever that means). Acting "suspicious" is not a crime.

Unless we want to live in a society drastically different from the one we live in today, we simply can't go around arresting people for what we imagine they might do. True, we might be safer in the long run if we did so, but we would be much less free.

The Arabs in our country can always denounce the Muslim religion. If the majority do so I will look at them as I look at any other race... totally color blind.
