These guys could have been "testing the waters"/doing a trial run...observing how the city responds, etc...

People always like to cling to this concept when a possible terror incident turns out not to be a terror incident, and they're disappointed.

Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but it gets trotted out every single time.

Good morning. Let us all bow our heads, and thank God for the fact we are Americans and live in this sweet land. Amen.

And now...re: your posts, and the tone of which, have hit me right at the core.

Might I respectfully remind you that we are at war? And won't you allow me, please, to state in the nicest manner possible...no one here would ever be, nor would I be, nor am I "disappointed" that *this time*, nothing indicates this to be an incident of heinous terrorism.

I choose to read news like this for several reasons; none of which are because I "like to cling" to terrorism.

America is battlefield whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. Americans have the freedom to choose to be vigilant in preserving it, or not. For myself, I prefer vigilance. I'd compare it to the job of Lifeguard.

For over a decade of having been one, I've come to my own conclusion that there are two main types of Lifeguards. The first is a person who jumps in an saves people from drowning or being injured in the water. The second heads these things off, and for the most part, never has to get wet.

Personally, I have always been the latter. My nature is to do my best and do whatever is needed to prevent trajedies from occuring in the first place. I prefer to be active, rather than passive. I tend to learn from past mistakes, than to keep repeating them and suffering consequences. I don't mind a bit that everyone is subject to searches right now in airports and stadiums.

Why, perhaps, you wonder?

Need I say more than 9-11? 9-11 is mostly the result of a government administration that "looked the other way."

Oh shoot...I stand corrected...I guess in reality, I should have included the third type of (supposed) Lifeguard; you know...the one who sits high above everyone else, always looking good, suntanning, swinging their whistle, flirting with the half-naked opposite sex while employed?

IMHO, 9-11 is the result of having a President who resembled this third type of Lifeguard. This President was too busy looking good, and too self-centered to give attention to anything other than himself. Clinton was too busy to connect the terrorism dots, and so now, we can either ignore them all again, or do double-time to take care of this once and for all.

So...which Lifeguard are you? No need to share your answers.

Good luck.

"No man is entitled to the blessings of freedom unless he be vigilant in its preservation."
