Preparing for Virginia Commonwealth University's 11th French Film Festival this week, Todd Schall-Vess mounted two red, white and blue flags atop the Byrd Theatre.

"Nobody thought about it Tuesday when I put them up," said Schall-Vess, the Byrd's general manager.

In one e-mail response, Schall-Vess referred to the "anti-French sentiment currently in vogue." The writers suggested he must mean "in fashion" because "vogue" is a French word.
1. Mr. Schall-Vess has zero sense of humour. That e-mailer must have been a FReeper, or if not, should be.
"The sentiment that's posed by statements like that is much more disturbing to me," he said, "than what's going on in Iraq."
Mr. Schall-Vess has zero sense of proportion. He is more disturbed that someone sends him a wisenheimer email than that we are currently @ war with a murderous despotic megalomanic and our soldiers are fighting and dying to keep him safe?
Worse than the Fan, the Byrd is in FairyCarytown.
