Senate Bill 1195 (SB 1195), sponsored by Illinois Democratic Sen. Antonio Munoz, bans any shotgun that has a bore of .50 caliber or more. It outlaws 10, 12, 16, 20 and 28 gauge shotguns and even muzzleloaders. The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee by a vote of 6-4 and now awaits a vote on the Senate floor.
The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance (USSA) says even if the clause imposing bore restrictions is fixed, SB 1195 bans any shotgun that has threads inside the end of the barrel. The USSA says that means any shotgun with choke tubes would be illegal. The bill also bans shotguns with a magazine capacity of more than four shells. Illinois citizens would have 90 days to turn in their guns to authorities or face prosecution.
The USSA is encouraging sportsmen to contact their senators and ask them to oppose SB 1195. To find the name of your legislator, call (217) 782-8223 or click on the "Legislative Action Center" link near the bottom, right-hand corner of the USSA Web site, www.ussportsmen.org.

Don't turn your shotguns in. Give them to us who still live in a free country.

Your on the right track.
I voted to ban saturday night specials, because they were cheap, dangerous, and too easy for criminals to get.
And I didn't have one, so I didn't care.
I just have my good old shotgun.
I voted to ban assault rifles because they are dangerous and no citizen needs military arms.
And I didn't have one, so I didn't care.

WHAT???
How did that happen???
I just have my good old shotgun.

"...people that for all intents and purposes should be right wing, but they are too damn STUPID to realize that the democrats won't screw them over."We have that species out here too. Their mental illness make you want to b$$ch slap them into consciousness.

There is absolutely no excuse for this bill beyond the socialist agenda of complete disarmament. Sounds like Illinois is about to become a very hot place to be. I fear in the end there will be a lot of vacancies in law enforcement and public office if this bill passes the Illinois Senate.
If they want your firearms so badly, sounds like you have no choice but to let them have it.

And some idiot will think that things have to get worse before they get better.
That has never been more false. When things get worse, the road to recovery is that much longer.

Actually, given the current state of affairs in Illinois, I am more of a blue dog democrat than a republican, just like my grandfathers used to be before LBJ ruined the democrats
Both parties are too liberal for me, something is sure wrong when 90% of the elected republicans in our state would have been considered left wing pinko communist by JFK

(2nd Amendment shall live!!!!!!) I'm afraid it is already dead, and has been for quite some time. How else would a state legislature even dream of voting on a bill like this?

Arizona is sounding like a really good optionI lived there a long long time ago, I might have to think about that too

Ok...but voting democrat is not going to save you. JFK was more conservative than most republicans today, yet the dems still hold him up as their hero. The problem is, progression, people progress and what is liberal and conservative is redefinted. If you have to pick the "lesser of two evils" that would be better for your needs, then you would be better with a republican than a democrat. That is the exact argument I used to have with all my out-laws.

no no no, you dont understand, I would never vote dem - they are now socialist
but my grandfathers who were blue dog democrats until the early to mid 60's would have also thought our current republicans were too liberal to vote for too, and so do I
Until the republican party in this state decides to be conservative we are screwed
I'm hoping this will help though:
