When the war is over the allies should make a concerted effort to let the free Iraqis know where the French stood
when it came to their freedom.

I'm sure the Iraquis already know. I'm also sure that the French realize this and that's what they're REALLY afraid of: a free Iraq telling the French that they'll slit their throats before buying anything from France or selling them one drop of oil.
