Karlsruhe - Police who searched a flat in Germany as part of a widening anti-terrorism inquiry have made chilling finds: a flight-simulator game, a list of chemicals, a litre of battery acid and a handbook on poisons.
Also found were high-precision timing devices that could be used in bombs, according to the newspapers Tagesspiegel of Berlin and Süddeutsche Zeitung of Munich in reports released in advance of Friday publication.
Asked for confirmation, federal prosecutors in Karlsruhe who head the national fight against terrorists said only that an apartment in the western city of Gelsenkirchen had been raided on March 21 and items seized, but declined to say what was found.
More disclosure would endanger the investigation and the finds were still being analysed, a spokesperson said.
The newspapers said the computer game, entitled Low Altitude Flight over Germany, depicted famous buildings that hijackers might want to attack. The inquiry was linked to the detention of six Islamists at Berlin's al-Nur Mosque on March 20.
Five have been released, but a 32-year-old North African, described in Berlin news reports as a Tunisian, is still being held on charges of illegal weapons possession and having forged documents.
Federal investigators believe the men were forming a terrorist group and planning attacks inside Germany.
German media suggested several days ago the group might be connected to a truck bombing in April last year at Djerba, Tunisia, where 19 people, many German tourists, were killed and a historic synagogue damaged.
A Saudi diplomat linked to the suspected terrorists has fled Germany rather than be expelled, according to a report on Wednesday on ARD television. He was said to be "an active supporter" of the controversial al-Nur mosque.

Well, well, well...
This outta make for some interesting "discussions" inside German politics, eh!
I'd like to be a fly on the wall for some of this!
If true, all of a sudden I see a sudden infusion of "life" into 'the issues' over there.

Methinks the Euros might not wake up until the water's boiling and THEY have a low-altitude assault by the "cult of peace".
To: knighthawk
Did the reports say which famous buildings?

One of these days, both Germany and France might come to regret opposing this war.

he its Germany!
Dennis Miller joked that the only reason Germany did not want to commit troops to a war in Iraq was the war was no where near the scale that would interest them!

No, and this article is the first I saw to mention such details (I don't watch German tv these days, their coverage of war is as bad as that of the Dutch public tv).

Germany made a nice bed for Islamic immigrants fort decades. Many Turks worked in the automobile plants (and still do) and other jobs German's wouldn't do. This job shortage is gone but Germany still encourages immigration from Muslim nations. Pays out tons of dole to them same as in England, France and Netherlands.
Result is Germany gets embedded terrorists.

This is not some small-village sheick: this an accredited representative of the House of Saud. What do they have to say to that? Is he going to be punished --- or reprimanded, at least?

Now it comes out that Germany/France encouraged, intimidated, threatened Turkey to not let USA use it's ports and highways to stage our attack from the Northern Front.
Germany/France told Turkey, if you cooperate with the USA you won't get in the EU.
