At some point, a berserk New Yorker is going to solve the traffic congestion problem himself...by just driving over the protestors.

Yeah... and the New York City Council empowered the idiots. No wonder they feel entitled.

sigh... I miss Rudy.
He'd have simply declared a city-wide and duration-long full amnesty for anyone who "accidentally" ran over one of these spineless sacks of pustulent guts.

People are willing to risk life and limb, sitting in the middle of Fifth Avenue. I think thats a pretty strong statement. false bravado. IF drivers were allowed an open season on these twits, THEN "people" would be risking life and limb. As it is, they're assured that anyone taking action against them will be detained, if not prosecuted. They're actually cowards who have a tremendous need for attention.

Anti-war groups have called for a day of widespread civil disobedienceThey're declaring war on the U.S. citizens who live there.
Some "anti-war" group they are. They're not for peace, by their own words they're for violence.
They're taking away the rights of all those who live in the city. Facists pigs.

If the police show up as a part of duty, will Bloomberg insist that nobody smokes as it becomes an official workplace?

In time or war or belligerance the intentional interference with commerce and transportation is an act of sabotage. These protestors should be arrested and prosecuted.

where are the rubber bullets?
These idiots have no freaking clue. What the hell would they do if someone died in an ambulance becuase their sorry asses were blocking the route to the hospital?
I know this may be an extreme example but it just goes to show how little these idots think.

The police need to get tough with this scum. They need to get on a bullhorn and say we are counting to 10 and letting the traffic through. And then do it and see how fast this scum goes down the drain.

Later, a small group of protesters, draped in black and walking to the beat of a drum, staged a mock funeral march on the same block of Fifth Avenue. Saw this crew. What a wierd bunch. Took some pictures so my wife and oldest son can have a good laugh later on.
On Wednesday, 16 protesters lay down in a Fifth Avenue intersection, halting traffic for blocks before being carried into police vans.
Saw this too. The 16 were surrounded by about 200 onlookers yelling things like "Get a job," "Go to France" and "Remember 9/11." We also cheered when they were carted off in the paddy wagons.
There was also a contingent of American Jews (the protest was on the same block as the diamond district), who were waiving Israeli flags and chanting USA, USA.
Does anyone else find it odd how American Jews are very silent in our war effort?

Russ Forster, a filmmaker from Chicago, said, People are willing to risk life and limb, sitting in the middle of Fifth Avenue. I think thats a pretty strong statement....of anti-Americanism.

I think that whenever anybody chains themselves to a building etc., we should leave them there for a minimum of one week. that tactic will soon dissappear

If a terrorist attack were to hit, emergency personal would not be able to respond. The police and ambulences would not be available to aid the wounded.
NY has always been a Muslim target, and they like to attack where they'd have massive casualities. A huge protest group would be an easy slaughter.
One tube of anthrax or small pox in the crowd, and all those liberal facists would be dead, and those who survived would kill others who are innocent.
