George McGovern to Speak Today at the University of Wyoming in Laramie

There is no article per se, but the mere announcement that Senator McGovern, D-SD, 1963-81, will speak at the only four-year institution of higher education in Wyoming today. McGovern has been lecturing on college campuses for years. He holds a Ph.D. in history.

I'm sure he has something important to say. He ran for president once, so he must have something important.

I was too young by 2 weeks to vote for him as I wanted to do. As I understand he changed some of his liberal views after he went into business. He is probably not yet a conservative, though.

Yup...he got a first hand taste of all the regulations, fees/taxes, and restrictions as he lost a lot of dough. The gov made him go broke before he ever got the chance to test his business model....that had to hurt. ;o)

The people who should care are the students at UW-Laramie. They pay "fees" that finance speakers such as the former neighboring senator. So what if few show up, he still gets paid by the students? It's like compulsory union dues. And it may be that UW tends to favor liberal speakers on campus despite the Wyoming reputation for "coservatism." Also, it would be interesting to know how much money McGovern gets for his speech. Remember too that Tom Daschle began his career as an aide to McGovern. McGovernism lives even if Nixon is dead!

Correction, George McGovern ran for president TWICE. In 1968, he tried to assemble the delegates pledged to the late RFK behind his last-minute candidacy. The nomination, however, went to HHH, who like McGovern was born in Daschle's SD.

He did once confess that liberalism was hurting his business, but he may have then closed the business. McGovern will forever be a dedicated liberal because he is a man of Dakota "compassion." He was also a strong defender of Bill Clinton in 1998-99. Remember, Bill Clinton ran the unsuccessful McGovern campaign in Texas in 1972.

Eric, MCGOVERNISM LIVES!!

No, he is no longer a senator, but TOM DASCHLE, his former aide, is blocking tax cuts and conservative judges day in and day out. McGovernism very much still reigns in the U.S. Senate. And the Dakota senators are FOUR of the worst problems that we have there.

Recall Senator John McCain was debating the end of the Viet Nam War with McGovern, spicifically the Nixon bombing...
McGovern said it would have all turned out differently had he won the election of 1972. McCain shot back that if McGovern had been elected, he (McCain) would still be in Hanoi.
