I dunno.... it's worked out pretty good, I think. Maybe France did us a favor afterall. Now the whole process won't be bogged down in UN nonsense.

Thank you for your veto threats, Chirac. :-p

Thank you Sec. Powell. We must get out of the UN and the UN as far away from this country as possible. France, Germany, Russia, China, et. al. will make great homes. Hearing Anan's remarks of the past two days, especially yesterday, honoring their borders et . has me more furious than I had thought possible at an "institution". We have got to get away from this pack of spies, welfare dependent bureaucracy, and America haters NOW!...damn...i feel better

Powell’s tough talk signaled that the Bush administration is ready to take a hard line with the United Nations after it failed to get tough with Saddam or enforce 17 resolutions demanding he disarm.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who last night began a quickie summit with President Bush at Camp David, also signaled that he doesn’t foresee any quick turnover of Iraq to any kind of U.N. administration.

This is what I wanted to hear. The U.N. has to be excluded. France and Germany and Russia have to be excluded and their former contracts and debts voided by the new Iraqi government. And Turkey gets no seat at the table either. They've all forfeited our goodwill in this matter. We may patch things up with them later but they cannot be allowed to prosper from their attempt to harm us and our real allies.

I agree..It is always good to know who our friends are. Regarding President Bush..I could not stop blowing kisses at my television yesterday when he was giving that speech in FL. What he is and who he is shows on that sweet face and in the sweet face of our lovely First Lady. I learned in nursing school to pay close attention to body language and, in my opinion, President Bush's body language oozes with honesty, courage and determination. He knows the meaning of "is" and he will never keep that meaning from us. Today I will fast and pray for our troops..Those kids are growing up fast over there and they will come back to us strong and experienced in the realities of fallen human nature. Some will become important national leaders. From what I have seen, we can be very proud of this generation. They may end up being as great as their Grandfathers or in some cases Great-Grandfathers. I want all of them to have medals of honor. And, Tony Blair..Well, there is another heart throb..Bush and Blair..LEADERS OF THE FREE WORLD!!!!

The UN MUST face the facts. It ain't gonna happen. Could be the end of the UN has started.

its a two edged sword though -

1) UN gets gobsmacked and shut out for being not relevant any more - hurray

2) UN responds by becoming an aggressive in your face, take no prisoners "obey us or we will be a "preventive" invading force in the future - bad thing

Suggestion to Powell - cut UN funding, send the cash to fund the war and allow a major tax cut for America to restart the economy.

You can leave the UN in NY, just make sure we have properly "bugged" every office.

This is what I wanted to hear

Me too.

The UN is a principal lever of power for France. Our adversaries must experience that they will pay a price when they oppose American interests, especially in an underhanded manner. Marginalize the UN and you marginalize France. We have already made an end run around France in NATO, another lever of power for france. France has isolated itself, albiet with Belgium and Germany, in the EU, so another lever of power is weakened.

If one considers France to be just the most notorious of our wayward allies, one understands how the UN has become a snare and trap. Unfortunately, public opinion in America, while perhaps taken aback and confused about our rebuff in the Security Council, still supports the UN as a valuable and needed international institution. Most people are not Freepers and have lives almost exclusively apart from politics and so do not concern themselves with these issues. Equally, if you suggested to them that our highly respected institutions like the National Council of Churches, the American Bar Association, the National Education Association, our labor unions, and the Ford Foundation are aggresively hostile to their values, they would regard you as a kook.

I confess a begruging respect for the Left and for the way it has been able to infiltrate so many of our powerful and influential institutions. I wonder if someone can trace any part of this phenomenon to the Frankfrut School?

Maybe now we'll finally get rid of the UN. Let the French pay the bill -- let's get rid of Hussein and the UN in the same campaign -- that will be a great victory for freedom.

Ok, sorry. Thought about my previous comment and regret it. He is a moderate, but he is a fighter when pushed enough; it just takes alot of pushing!
