Well, I just checked at snopes.com, debunker of all urban legends, and it the status of this one is TRUE

Sears is one of many companies who go above and beyond what is required by law for their reservists. Snopes has a list of all the companies on their website. Go to www.snopes.com, and search on Sears

They get my vote (and shopping dollars)!

UPS has also done this. The president of their company was on and he said they could possibly lose 4000 employees if all were called up. He said their jobs would be held open for them anad they would not hire extras, but rather go with overtime, etc. I was very impressed. (This was on Neil Cavuto's show yesterday, I believe.)
