Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

"So can you tell me who's telling the truth here?" Oh, by all means - believe the man who uses children as human shields. Good grief.

It's Gen. Vincent Brooks.
I call him Vince, just like Tommy Franks.
I also him to get another star, just for having to battle the press a few times a day.

Let's not get too excited about finding Chem Suits!
All of our soldiers have them and this does not automatically mean we intend to use NBC weapons against the Iraqis.
Now, if we do find Chem Weapons or SCUDS I will get excited. Up till now though, we keep getting hints that we "might" have found something. To date, no SCUDS [officially].

The Hong Kong reporterette wants to know whether to take our word on the civilian casualty count or Iraq's. Now there's a mental giant for you.

Remember guys.....we can fight on a dirty battlefield..
Finding those suits is important....but we can't fret over them...

I fear for the people in Safwan. The Iraqi's would gas them in front of the whole world just to make an example of them.

Our soldiers are prepared with our own suits and masks. It's frightening but I believe we're well prepared for chem use.
Less sure our soldiers are going to be able to handle seeing children used as human shields.

I saw the Marines speaking this am, they were talking about being worried but prepared for the bio-chem attacks.
But S. Ritter says it won't happen because his pal doesn't have WMD, right?

I was around from Midnight to 5a.m. and at times when news was slow some posters where chatting but nothing bad was posted. A couple of posters were arguing over who lived in a better part of the country and when things got really slow the topic was Mexican food.
I will go back and check before stick my foot in my mouth but maybe it was the chatty posts that were deleted to keep the posts pertaining to the out line of what these threads are for...
I am surprised that SanDeigoConservative was banned the skermish between him and the other poster over how great San Deigo is didn't seem harmful.

Gen Brooks was asked about the third country involved in the Sumer mines, and the general said he won't comment.

Scott Ritter said yesterday the US would not be able to take Baghdad and we'd leave Iraq with our tail between our legs.
