Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

A friend of mine has a brother in the 101st, and he got a call a couple of days from Geraldo's sattelite phone, he's been letting the troops call home, so atleast he's bringing one good thing to the group

(God Bless and Protect the Allied Troops. And their families here at home---they are soldiers too.)

Does it always wound like wind chimes?Only when it doesn't sound like things blowing up....

A lot of it may be earth moving, get a lot of earth and rocks moving around down there and crap collapses, gas lines break, electrical fires start, water leaks undermine soil and people get trapped. In addition to mics we also have the ability to use underground radar tomography to look for indicators of underground emplacements. Need to be close for that but we can use it once we get into Baghdad.

Gees, did I type that reply that poorly?

I was caught up on these threads until the phone rang. Now, 30 minutes later and I'm 300 posts behind!

Wind chime wounds are hard to treat.

I'm going to have to stick up for Geraldo..
His reporting with the troops from afghanistan seemed to be pretty genuine. I believe in his Sept 11th metamorphisis. He may be campy, and he may be self serving at times, but he really does respect and appreciate these soldiers. A lot more than I can say for most journalists. (except Rick of course)

well, we have no troops in the middle of baghdad to look into the hole. and the tunnel complexes mean that the occupants could just go someplace else to come to the surface.

I know I cherished those calls home but pal-ing around with Whoraldo would have me in the hole real quick.
He slipped on the hydraulic fluid sir, last I saw Whorealdo he was hitting 90 mph in full delta. No sheet. Man did he make a big spot on that levee.

Mmmmm. Pop Tarts.
Watching live stream. Do you ever wonder if it is the same car, turck, and bus, just going around the block over and over again?
To: Robert A. Cook, PE
Blame it on the keyboard. I do.
To: SoldiersGirl
Not sure where he is .. but with the bunker boms we just sent over, I think we can guess where he won't be staying tonight

ha
pretty funny the bombs started going off right after the report that SH was alive and underground.

OH! I know what I wanted to ask...
was there any confirmation on the report that Al Qaeda were fighting with the Iraqi's at Umm Qasr, or Basrah...one or the other....

"Geraldo 'We're all grunts' Rivera was revolting tonight. I pity the unit in the 101st that he gets embedded with."
Yup...if I was a trooper with the 101st, I'd almost be tempted to give his mouth the Duct-Tape Treatment!
It's like he's got gender-identity/masculinity issues, and he's using the reflected glory of REAL warriors to give himself a fake contact-high testosterone rush...and it's pathetic.

P.S. Here in Southern Oregon, they're puttng on a pro-war rally in Ashland (notorious leftist college/Shakespeare-Francis Bacon crowd) this Saturday at 2 pm in the main square.
There's gonna be a lot of resentment and discord from the local Marxist thugs (who burned an American flag, and have been spray painting people's SUV's with anti-war slogans!) and I was wondering if someone could tell me how to post an alert about this upcoming pro-America rally...thanks!
To: SoldiersGirl
I blame it on Jim R.

Hi. I just gave up trying to get caught up. :)

I just gave up trying to get caught up.That's understandable because it's easy to get caught up is all this.
