Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Look at tha cam #6 again....what is that in the picture....and I thought I just saw a flare..or tracers.I'm guessing flares, but I'm not sure. Bloom is visible, as if he were getting ready to do a standup.

The "Sky is falling" creeps are out in full force today.

"Koffee's" comments during this war have been very unreal. I just can't believe what is coming out of this "non-elected" person's yap. He, as the head of the UN, has a duty to keep his mouth shut and remain silent on this issue. Independence is key.
But, Koffee has been taking positions on this war. As such, Koffee, in my opinion, has breached his duty and should do the honourable thing and resign.

Did you hear that ahole on Sky reporting from Camp David. He used hte 6 or 7 days thing agaist the administration. Unbelievable.
He also just called our Prez "inarticulate". Sky is getting as bad as BBC. I just want FNC, but alas, I am cubicle bound. Sombody has to come up with a decent streaming source for news.

Re: Highway to Hell
About a month ago, I stumbled upon a thread that described the original highway to hell (they had a different name for it, but essentially the same thing) from the first Gulf War. Someone had included a great description by P.J. O'Rourke and awesome pictures of the hundreds of vehicles destroyed while fleeing from Kuwait. I've searched and searched for it but to no avail. It was terrific reading.
+++
P J P'Rourke whote a book "Give War a Chance" with chapters on his time in Saudi covering GWI. I am listening on tape (when not listening to briefings, etc).
Very interesting to relive that war as a perceptive and on-our-side journalist saw it.
Maybe you will find what you are looking for in O'Rourke's book.

You know this has all been an education for me.. I guess I was under impression based on info from .. who knows where..... exactly.. but where , I know generally.
that this COULD be a quick blow. Our show of force would cause the military to collapse.
I too am a polyanna.....with AFPhys
I really did HOPE.. reality in the back of my mind was there but hoped against hope it would not be long or hard.
Stupid? sure. I still hope long is under a month..
Know the mop up will be long & ongoing

So what if we wait a few weeks to go?I personally have no problem with the idea if that's what the situation demands. Only hoping we aren't more vulnerable somehow during that time, but I know that the people who are in charge are the experts.
That's enough for me. Prairie

I know I'm asking for trouble.....but I think that "cakewalk" was uttered by Richard Perle in February.
He was immediately chastised by the admin but by then it was too late.
Sorry, can not provide a link to "proof" at the moment, I'm kind of new at this forum.

Hey, I was joking. I don´t want to defend the media.
I still believe that if S&A was part of the strategy, this part has failed. I don´t get the impression from our reporters in Iraq that many people surrender and stop fighting. I now fear that the war will last some months, including a bloody fight on the streets of Baghdad. We need to get Saddam. Sending some Rangers to the palaces would be a suicide command, mmh?

Does anyone have a scorecard on Iraqi Info Ministry lies?
Telling the world that we're preventing needed humanitarian aid from getting to the people of Baghdad...let's give this man to the Romanian people.

Did you hear that ahole on Sky reporting from Camp David. He used hte 6 or 7 days thing agaist the administration. Unbelievable. He was displaying that oh-so-suave cynicism...I just about broke my monitor when he went on about how inarticulate GWB is in answer to the nuke question. For all SkyGuy's sophistication, he didn't read between the lines.
