Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Major Bob (analyst) just did a great explanation of how tanks go into a town and are attacked in housing areas by Iraqi soldeirs that live in these areas so in retaleation civilian homes get blasted.

1291 - thanks I reallly need this & hope to get a handle on it...eventuallyYou'll get it. A lot of us started knowing absolutely nothing about HTML. Now it's automatic. So automatic that when I'm typing a document in Word, I catch myself typing in HTML code!

Re: Die In (of course that is all over the two channels... no war , briefing coverage)
If I were police chief, I would announce that in 10 minutes the police would be removed & the roads would be open & cars may proceed if they wish.
And THEY are responsible for getting the dead & wounded to the proper place.
No more crap
One way to handle a problem
Dolly for Police Chief?

I am sure these reporters are getting heat from the home bases that they aren't earning their keep.. Not defending them. The are boneheads to be sure! I understand your point, but there is still no excuse for the way the media/press are acting. This is a war not a Hollywood movie
The media/press were able to report on the war during WWII .. maybe they should take a look at history to see it is done
And IF the media/press REALLY REALLY wanted to write a good piece .. they could .. that is if they could put their anti-americanism/anti bush aside for a moment .. but they can't and that is why they will NEVER become great journalists ..
And for those IDIOTS laying down in the middle of the street .. GET BACK TO CLASS LITTLE KIDDIES .. I swear if one of my kids did this crap .. I would cut of the checks and make them pay for their own dang college tutition
OK .. rant off .. for the moment

Good points. Sounds like the press does not do it's homework on the stories they are working on.
Just winging it.

using civilians as human shields
military units dressed in civilian clothes
fake surrender ambushes
arming with chemical weapons
systematic rape and torture
execution and (possible) castration of POW's
forcing soldiers to fight under threat of death to their families
placing military targets in hospitals
using ambulances for military transport
suicide bombings
attacking their own population
gassing their own population
cutting off water to their own cities
vs.
possibly bombing a market by accident
Guess which draws more protest from the media, the UN and Amnesty International?
Thank you for this post. Passing it on:

I heard that they fixed these tanks and that they were back in the battle. Does anyone know if this is true?
