Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I would agree, but I am not an expert on the GC. I know there is a prohibition somewhere about "public humiliation" or similar . . .

That link had the exact quote I remembered. Thanks, mewzilla!

I taught a part of the Laws of Armed Conflict (essentially the GC) at the Royal Australian Naval College and yes, combatants in civilian clothing are afforded no protection under the GC and can be executed on the spot (if that is the law of the capturing country). Ditto enemy combatants disguised as friendly troops.

Haven't heard it. (Does that date me?) Only reason I know AC/DC is 'cause my little bro used to bang his head to it at very high volume :)It's from 1989. My roommate was really into The The in college. But it is a REALLY cool song, all about a giant clash between Christianity and Islam. Lots of percussion and anger and moping.

Did I hear correctly that neither Els or Phil are playing? Phil has a new baby. What is Ernie's deal?

I had to leave and call my local ABC news station (and Sen. Graham's office) to complain about the arrogant anti-American propagandists who have hijacked America's mainstream news media.
Miss Marple suggested yesterday that we need to call local news...I agree. "Just following orders" doesn't cut it while we're at war - and neither does the lie "we don't make the news, we just report the news."
Sorry, Dog...press wars continue. The local ABC news reporter did let me go on and on..lol...an said I spoke for many. He suggested we write letters, because the FCC pays attention to letters. I told him that the mainstream American press is out of touch with mainstream America...and that, while we could phone the White House and Pentagon - we could not reach these reporters. They block e-mail addresses, ignore our views and push their own agenda...told him to use me as an excuse and give this message to his boss. (rant over). (^;

"Guess which draws more protest from the media, the UN and Amnesty International?"
Great compilation/contrast. You know, people who take that slant HAVE to start from the point of view that the US and W are evil and are fighting an immoral war. I refuse to believe that you can put any thought into this issue and focus on such a minor facet of the war. People like that just need to be bitch slapped. Every day I come to apprciate George Patton more and more.

Gad, I hate the mainstream media.Someone posted a picture of Chip Reid last night. Before this war, he was always perfectly coifed, had that swaggering reporter POV. Since he's been out in the field, you can see the anxiety plainly etched on his face. Methinks he's learning some life lessons.
These perfumed, privileged un-embedded reporters complaining about boredom slay me. Such silliness on display for all the world. And such stupid righteous indignation.

Thanks, prairiebreeze. Did I miss anything? Glad to see the Fox & Friends have time to mock the NY "die ins"..NO major Iraqi regime atrocities overnight, I hope.

IIRC, the thread had considerably more pictures, but I've followed your link and will read it with great interest. Thank you.

He was talking about the former top brass from the penetgon that have been complaining how the war is being fought and how we are not using overwelming force in this war
Garett went on to say that even though there aren't are many troops as were in the first GW, there enough to do the job right according to the pentegon
On a personal note .. as it was mention last night/early this morning by David Christan and a former CIA guy .. because of the past administration and Bob Torricelli .. Iraq is not to ONLY problem that Bush or our military are dealing with at the moment .. let us also not forget the war on terrorism.. afgan .. north korea .. china .. etc...
Bush and our Military have their plate full dealing with all the problem around the world and if you ask me .. THEY ARE DOING A DAMN GOOD JOB
And Wesley Clark and Scott "The Pervert" Ritter needs to SHUT UP!!
