Va. man pleads guilty to sex charges

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A man pleaded guilty Monday to sex charges involving a 13-year-old girl he met over the Internet who was found restrained in his Virginia home.

Scott Tyree, 39, pleaded guilty to travel with intent to engage in sexual activity with a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor.

The girl disappeared on Jan. 1, 2002, from her Pittsburgh-area home after dinner with $200 in Christmas money and no winter coat.

A Florida man notified federal authorities after he said Tyree showed him a Web cam photo of the girl, which matched a photo of the missing teen on a newspaper Web site, the FBI said. FBI agents found the girl restrained inside Tyree's home three days after her disappearance.

Agents said Tyree, of Herndon, Va., told them he planned to keep her indefinitely. At the time of his arrest, federal authorities said Tyree referred to himself on a Web site as a "master for teen slave girls."

Tyree faces a sentence likely no longer than 19 years and seven months, U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan said.

The girl's family was satisfied with the plea, Buchanan said. A woman who answered the phone at the office of Tyree's lawyer, Damien Schorr, said he would not comment until the June 27 sentencing.

I agree with you, some people could use a little better judgement. Her web page indicated her interests were hypnosis, witchcraft, mythology and folklore. She never gave her age but posted pictures of herself. Also there were dozens of pictures of her growing up and with her family.

From all that is known to date, it is believed she left on her own, and was not kidnapped. However, she was only 13. Someone other than her did not have a brain.
