Standing tall and proud isn't easy but I hope they do.
I'm not at all worried about the ROTC students. They can kick a$$, but more likely will just feign a jump and scare off any wackos.
From our perspective at VMI, most of the ROTC types were very "gung ho" as the expression went, very enthusiastice 'drill twice a week' types without a very good idea what being in the military was all about. They tended to be very 'chicken' as the expression went, sticklers for minuteae that we who lived under a military system 24/7 had long ago realized was counterproductive. It was often a real culture clash when we had to work together: they didn't understand our casual attitude combined with better military skills and tactical understanding; we didn't understand their combination of enthusiasm, mickey mouse and incompetence in areas we took for granted.

Reminds me of my old spit upon college days while in uniform near the end of the Vietnam war. All it did was steel my resolve. The experience, as vile as it was, helped mold me and paid dividends not only for for me but for the Army I served.
