Thanks for the Ping, Jen. I have some info for you. Since I have lost my FAA medical due to the closed head injuries I suffered in the 1999 auto accident, while I am still an Officer with CAP, and do what I can to teach, I am also a Navy-Marine Corps MARS radio station operator.
This is one of the reasons that my posting has slowed down, as I am spending a lot of time in front of the tranceiver and computer handling message traffic.
I have also been glued to Fox, kind of waiting for that single BUFF, and the large, black. blunt ended shape coming off the racks over Baghdad. Those traitorous bastards love the sun so much, they should at least be given the opportunity to see the inside of one for one unholy trillionth of a second [Huge Evil Grin] At least the BUFF should be allowed to do, once, for real, in combat, not a test, what it was designed to do back in the days of the Cold War and the heyday of SAC. As is said on a patch, "SAC will be Back" LOL...
BTW How are you doing???? How is the "Blue Bomber"?? Yu do know that they now make rifled barrels for the aforementioned "spud launcher", as well as a laser sight. I realize that it has been some time since I posted to you. For that, I apologize. I will not let this much time pass again without posting.
Keep the Faith for Freedom

Hmmmm, interesting opinions about the yellow ribbons. And, I consider it just that - "opinions" - and each is entitled to his own. While I don't have any yellow ribbons on my old oak tree, I don't see anything wrong, or "effeminate" or "gay" about them. When I was deployed for Gulf War I, the folks back at my home base and in town tied yellow ribbons everywhere. I still have one my family put out for me and one from a neighbor. They are cherished mementoes now.
I agree wholeheartedly with flying the US flag - which I do daily. But, if a family wants to tie yellow ribbons in honor of a loved one 'over there' they'll get no complaints from me.

Hi GW, sorry to hear about your FAA medical. That's cool though about being a MARS operator. Does the military still use MARS as much as before the advent of the Internet and email?
I'm glued to FOX and FR too! And it wouldn't break my heart to see that mushroom cloud over Iraq, if they gas our troops.
I haven't used my 'Blue Bomber' very much lately since I got a Yankee Flipper skwerl-proof bird feeder. Dang, there went my entertainment! hehehehe (I don't have a real spud-launcher, ya know... I call my bazooka water gun my 'Blue Bomber'. I was just kidding around at the Canteen about the spud launcher.)
GREAT to hear from you! Take care!

It was your question on the Foxhole thread that prompted me to post this info as a separate thread. There are so many people who want to do something to show their support for our troops, but don't know what programs are available. Thanks for YOUR support of our brave troops!!

Thank you for gathering all these support options in one place. :)
There are some very good ways to help here, folks.

Several churches and organizations in our area have formed Operation Homefront to assist area military and their families. There is a comfort bear drive to give each child of a military family a bear. Fund raisers are going on to send care packages to military. An Interdenominational Military Support Group, made up of area Christians, is forming to give spiritual support and comfort to families with service members serving in the Armed Forces.
Area National Guard members were given pocket crosses and a plasticized Psalm 91 before they were deployed.
An official Rally for America will be held on April 6.
