CBC's "The National" LIVE THREAD March 25, 2003 (See REAL media bias in action! C-SPAN2 9pm ET!)
CBC News ^ | March 25, 2003

Posted on 03/25/2003 5:53:33 PM PST by Timesink

The other night we had a lot of fun watching the CBC's flagship nightly newscast, "The National," which is being simulcast live on C-SPAN ever night during the war.

If you think the US mainstream media is biased ... if five minutes of NPR makes you ill ... well, friend, let me tell you, you ain't seen NOTHING yet until you've seen "The National." The CBC does not even make any pretense to objectivity. It is hard, HARD left; it is MASSIVELY anti-American; it is MASSIVELY anti-war. Your jaw will drop if you watch this show with us, I promise you.

The show will air live on C-SPAN1 at 9pm EST/6pm PST. Won't you join us and vomit?

I get CBC here. I'll skip it. I already know how bad it is. I'd rather watch the movie Tombstone on DVD.

Can't watch, no TV nearby, but I'll be at the computer so let me know how the parade of lies is tonight.

I hate when homework starts coming in mass quantities.

CBC is loathsome and inept.

I summer in Canada for three months every year.

I have to dial in Detroit or Boston radio stations to get a weather forecast.

CBC is always preoccupied worrying about Lesbian rights in Missisauga or some such nonsense...

The more things change....

I ran a company in Mississauga in the 1970s.  While I was there, a small manufacturing company was forced into having an election whether or not to unionize.  It was a bitterly fought contest. The union won.  The company was a proprietorship, and the proprietor elected to go out of business rather than allow a union to tell him how to run his business.  The union went to court and won a writ forcing the company to stay in business.  That's the last I remember hearing about it.  Ain't unionism/communism grand?

Join us tonight as The Shrew interviews Robert Spencer author of "Islam Unveiled: Disturbing Questions About the World's Fastest Growing Religion" This should prove to be a fascinating and provocative interview about this highly timely topic. CBC now raking Bush over the coals for calling the War on Terrorism "A crusade," claiming it's proof positive he's a fundamentalist religious nutcase!

"Crusade" was a damned poor choice of words at the time. To bring it up as something recent is a crock, but you can't unring that bell.

"The reporters didn't expect things to be this difficult and are asking sharp questions of the Pentagon."

He went on to say that Rummy was getting testy. I didn't see any testiness, but sniping reporters don't have much to work with while their counterparts are embedded with the troops. The embedding looks to be a major PR coup in this war.

Yep. Bought it. Never saw it before actually. Watching it now. It's good, and I already have a new tagline.

I don't think tonight's broadcast was a hit piece. Nothing flagrant. The piece on psychological warfare was blunt and honest--Muslims don't understand cartoon thought-bubbles.

Wesley Wark, of the Univ of Toronto was pro-psyops and rational. Chris Simpson at American University in Washington tied the threat of death to psyops, not the Canadian academic. Pretty neat.

The union went to court and won a writ forcing the company to stay in business.

So they made him a slave.

Exactly and precisely. It was a machining sort of company, IIRC.
