In fact, Theodore Roosevelt said, "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." How dare the media call people who speak out against the war unpatriotic. Exercising freedom of speech is an extremely patriotic act.

You sure it isn't William Shakespeare who said that, Babs?

If she wants to quote TR, at least use the best and, in the case of most Holloywood types, the most applicable

I still remember that horse-faced Julia Roberts chirping, "God is great!" at the Star Concert (at an undisclosed location) a few weeks after 9/11. So wrong.

Good God, this woman has zero original thoughts in her ditzy little head! She doesn't even try to customize the DNC talking points, she reads them verbatim!

Anyone catch Lanny Davis using the exact same arguments and analogies on O'Reilly last night?

These people aren't a political party - they're the Borg.

No they're not. The Borg collective adapts when things don't work. The Democrats just think saying the same thing no matter what happens will get them through. It's like the Jedi mind trick. In this case it only works on the extremely weak minded.

Babs's problem is that she wants to exercise her right to free speech without taking responsibility for what she says when she does it. She wants to shoot off her mouth without taking a hit in the pocketbook should consumers vote with their wallets. Babs can't have it both ways.
