Why exactly do we need them? Their GDP continues to fall while the Vilnius(sp?) 10 continues to expand their economies and take advantage of the situation.

France and Germany need us tremendously but it is not the same situation for us. France wants power and thus their present stance.

We've waited for "behavior" changes from France since 1949 to no avail. They continue to become more socialistic in their government and more broke.

Finally, no smart state department EVER "severs" the relationship with another country. However, the President is absolutely right in FREEZING France and Germany out of any post-war world.

My "needing them" has to do with the war on terror only.

We cannot fight a global war on terror without them.
